@JosePuliampatta Only for Hong Kong, sir! SCB still printed notes into the 21st century; not sure if they still do so. HSBC was the other note-issuing Bank in HK til 1997.
@PratimDGupta So all the very loud blasts, accompanied by flashes of light, which I heard in my part of Mumbai continuously for at least 45 minutes after the match ended were NOT crackers. Thanks a lot for educating me! Much obliged!
@citywalkindia@mumbaiheritage Can you get a Portuguese source to confirm that meaning? As far as single vs multiple, when the Portuguese acquired the islands, the name ‘Mombaim’ was applied collectively.
@asinaib@anup_malani I mean never, or not in the foreseeable future. No one wants to offend any lobby, but no one wants to find solutions which might work without offending any lobby.
@asinaib@anup_malani Ironically, leave and licence was never under the purview of rent control, but was retroactively covered in the 1970s. Leave and licence was common in the case of larger flats. The beneficiaries were mostly corporate entities, who brazenly exploited rent controls!
@asinaib@anup_malani After 125 years, by which time market rates would again have gone up. I think the rate is 4 or 5 % per year, while inflation has been higher.
@thebritishhindu Born in independent India, yet learnt savaiki, deedki, adichki and autki, tables of 1.25, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5. Not in my English medium school, but from parents or enthusiastic relatives, who learnt them in their schools. The names might be incorrect. Cannot recite those tables now.
