America's 250th birthday celebration is already lighting up the sky.

A stunning air show featuring 2,500 drones transformed the night over North Richland Hills, Texas, with massive images of a rocket, a bald eagle, and George Washington.

The patriotic display, created by Sky Elements Drone Shows, gave local families an early look at the celebrations leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

MEMORIAL DAY VS. VETERAN’S DAY - A TUTORIAL

This come up every year and there’s never been a better time to remember than right now. As you fire up your grills and drinks your beers, remember this:

Both days are U.S. federal holidays honoring military service, but they have different distinct purposes.

• MEMORIAL DAY: Honors military members who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. It’s a day of solemn remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

• VETERAN’S DAY: Honors all veterans — living and deceased — who have served in the military. It’s a day to thank and celebrate everyone who’s ever served.

Bottom Line: Memorial Day is about those who died for the country. Veterans Day is about those who served.

History:
• Memorial Day: Observed on the last Monday in May. It originated after the Civil War as Decoration Day and became a federal holiday in 1971.

• Veterans Day: Observed on November 11. It began as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I and was renamed in 1954 to honor all veterans.

How We Do It:
• Memorial Day: Focuses on visiting cemeteries, placing flags or flowers on graves, and the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Flags fly at half-staff until noon. It also unofficially kicks off summer with cookouts and sales.

• Veterans Day: Features parades, ceremonies, and expressions of gratitude to living veterans. It has a more appreciative tone than Memorial Day.

So, on Memorial Day, remember the fallen. On Veterans Day, thank those who served.

Keeping the distinction clear shows proper respect for both holidays and the sacrifices they represent.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Veterans really appreciate it.
