Is this idea perfect? No of course not.
But take action! If you don't like something, do something about it instead of waiting on someone else (while complaining loudly that no one is doing anything).
Don't clutch your pearls. Clench your fist.
Perhaps we are entering the "counter" age.
Instead of trying to regulate/legislate things out, instead we develop countering technologies.
Instead of regulating Flock and other surveillance technologies, develop counter-surveillance tech and databases to track locations.
Instead of enforcing rules about what can and can't be on a website, develop a plugin to mute/censor the words.
Hate AI? Use it create tools to prevent its use in areas you want it out of.
Free bot idea: One that will check if a person has ever done anything related to what they are commenting on.
Yes? Awesome. They might be saying something useful.
No? Block/mute/flag
Codex limits are NERFED.
With my $200 ChatGPT Pro plan I used to never worry about my limits using Codex.
I've been using GPT 5.5 the past 2 days and am already 45% through my weekly limit.
This is a completely different Codex then what we had last week.
Who else is noticing this?
I've thing I keep thinking about: these folks like TR are getting big things done in a time where communication was slow/limited. And it seems like these things tended to happen quickly.
And here we live in a time of high bandwidth instant communication, yet we can't make things happen with any urgency.
The whole thread is awesome, but this one in particular...
So many people don't seem to realize they can choose who is in and out of their circle!
If you are doing something positive for your life, don't let other's negativity or lack of support stop you!
Find the people who will celebrate and encourage your growth.
Yeah, I appreciate that he's being up front. From some stuff I've seen (e.g. that security leak a few weeks ago) I think they are doing a lot with AI, and I think his take is interesting and probably not wrong.
But I'm thinking about all those other companies out there that say "Oh we use AI" and they have 1 Claude account for the entire company and won't let their employees use it. When those companies do a layoff/downsize and blame AI, that's what makes me mad.
Just my 2 cents but one of the worst parts about the Meta AI layoffs is all the businesses out there that are going to try and copy Meta and do layoffs for the same reason.
Or are going to use AI as the reason to do a layoff. Either way its bad.
On one had you've got people copying a bigger company ("If they do it, so should we!") which is just a terrible plan.
On the other hand, you've got people scapegoating something instead of taking responsibility for a bad descision.
I believe in criticizing by creating.
Anyone can point out what's wrong; that takes zero courage.
Building something that actually works - a factory, a product, a company that employs your people - that takes everything.
Entrepreneurship is agency in its purest form.
You stop asking for help and start making it happen yourself.
@stepha_nieeeeee@JobFound5 I made a #remote#job board that aggregates a bunch of remote friendly job boards together: https://t.co/Q513cUtsLw
It's kinda tech focused, is that something you might be interested in?
If anyone is looking for remote dev jobs, I've made an aggregator that makes finding that perfect job easier: https://t.co/Wwe0A3nkIR #remote#Job#digitalnomads
(Its still a work in progress, I'd love any feedback!)
