@more_pepper cold air is dry air--a humidifier and thick moisturizing creme and covering up out of doors will help

@monetdg My skin gets extra sensitive in the winter due to the cold, dry air. Could be that.

@whatelseisthere Moisturizing lotions don't form a protective layer on your skin. They undo drying but don't prevent more. Use a cream-type.

@MariaPerotti Winter is tough on skin. A humidifier in the bedroom helps a lot, as does covering up. Wind+cold air+exposed skin=evaporation

@LittleMissM My mother would safety-pin stockings over my hands at night when I was a baby to prevent that. Keep using hypoallergenic lotion

Cold, dry wind today is going to exacerbate a lot of people's eczema. :( Hope they all stocked up on moisturizing creme.

@mamikaze generic (or store brand) 1lb tubs of it are quite cheap and when skin is in full outbreak one can go through a LOT of it

@mamikaze It sounds like the xerotic eczema that attacks when the radiators come on late Fall. Lotion is often not thick enough--try Eucerin

@nobodysfool It seems like your dermatologist would have told you, but it sounds a lot like eczema to me. Is it possible you get rained on?

@onehotrobot That's a classic description of atopic and xerotic eczema. Mine used to get really bad in the winter as the air dried out.

Don't just "put up" with your eczema. Life is too short to spend it scratching, oozing, and cracking.
