Over the next few days/weeks, my goal is to figure out how to scale some of the janky systems we put together to test the core loops, so that we can grow faster and meet all the demand on the waitlist. Then we can actually start to explore more growth channels.

This weekend, our readers crossed 10,000 quizzes completed on Bookmarkk! 🥳
Every quiz is simple: finish a chapter, answer a few questions on it, and earn XP.
But the quiz doesn’t work in isolation.
The XP moves you on a weekly leaderboard.
The leaderboard gives the week some stakes.
A WhatsApp "book club" makes reading feel slightly less like a lonely monk activity and slightly more like a sport.
People debate answers.
Celebrate perfect scores.
Complain about hard questions.
Roast each other for farming XP on Sunday night.
Somewhere in that loop, the quiz stops feeling like a test and starts feeling like a reason to read one more chapter.
The first 1,000 quizzes took 48 days.
The most recent 1,000 took about a week.
It’s still early, and there’s a lot we’re figuring out.

The journey has been nothing short of incredible so far. Everything happened so fast after that, and I got so laser focussed on executing, that I didn't really have the bandwidth to drop any updates here.

Right before https://t.co/7eCvJ3u8Pf, I had the privilege of being a part of the early journey of Actioneer, back when it was still called GameRamp, and it genuinely was a major learning adventure for me.
Vivek and Sashank pushed me to go deep, and understand how games and consumer apps work, in a way I hadn't ever bothered to do before. I studied how ad networks function, how all sorts of companies handle user acquisition (UA) - both small and large, and how core loops in games are designed.
It made me appreciate the art of ROAS and monetisation, the importance of amazing customer experience, and the magic of compounding in a new way. My time here introduced me to coding with AI, design partnerships, and building B2B sales pipelines from scratch, all of which have proved EXTREMELY useful in the early days of https://t.co/7eCvJ3u8Pf (acquired my first 300 paying users by sales cold calls lol... I'm calling it B2C SaaS xD).
I also got to do my first international business trip ever while at Actioneer, with @TahaTinwala1. Taha is a rare beast. I have never worked with anyone like him before, and I cannot understate the impact that it's had on me - genuinely a Canon Event in my life. Bro is built different fr. His clarity and commitment to the process have inspired me, and I'm glad to call him a mentor and friend. Taha helped me truly understand that the point of a business is to make something people really want, and (importantly) make money doing it. Sounds so obvious, but somehow so many of us miss this, especially while building in the consumer app space.
Shout out to Srijan, Ferril, Yuvraj, Shilpa, Vimarsh, Indresh, Kanwar, Tarun, Atharva, Amit, Aswin, Gyan, Jainam, and everyone else I worked with. I had a blast, and I'm glad I got to get to know you guys :))

Someone just crossed a 100 day reading streak on my app! 🔥
I’m Noah, and I’m building https://t.co/7eCvJ3u8Pf, an app that helps people read more.
I’ve run a bunch of consistency-building experiments on https://t.co/7eCvJ3u8Pf over the past few months, and I’ve learnt that a streak should not measure how hard you tried to please an app, but rather, it should measure whether you did the thing the app exists for.
For us, that means getting people to actually read, and finish, books again.
We looked at our streak data across 348 paying user profiles, and the pattern was very clear:
After a 1-day streak, users are 82% likely to read again the next day.
After a 3-day streak, that jumps to 90%.
After a 7-day streak, it goes to 96%.
What’s even cooler, once a user reaches a 7-day reading streak, there is a 87% chance they make it to day 14! That is a real habit!
It’s not even been 3 months, and our users have already finished 250+ books, with the help of Bookmarkk.

The gamified loop that’s been working for us: take a quiz after every chapter of your book to get XP, go up a leaderboard, and earn coins.
On the backend, we have a rich knowledge graph for each book, that powers:
- quizzes
- recommendations
- insights/connecting ideas across books
We’ve been working on this full time for about 8 weeks now. So far we have:
- 250 paying users ($5/mo subscription)
- a super active community on WhatsApp
- 7,000+ quizzes taken
- 88% resubscription rate
- $1,200+ MRR
- 800+ people on our waitlist
All of our growth comes from referral and the founder-led content I’ve been posting on Instagram (3 reels/week). We’ve consistently been getting 200k+ views a month, and some of the reels have gone kinda viral too 😂
Discipline has been a core pillar of our building process this time, along with getting people to pay from day 1 (in return for real value, and a court-side view to watch us build. We think of our early users as design partners).
I’m genuinely having so much fun working on this with @KobaltKaria, and can’t wait to see where it goes :))
Honestly, this is the most rewarding work I’ve ever done, we’re already seeing how our app is helping our users make a positive change in their lives, and I believe there’s a big company to be built here.
