As part of our work in the northeastern Indian rivers, we have developed a toolkit to monitor aquatic ecosystems. Feel free to download and use these resources.
Population growth, climate change, invasive alien species, increased usage intensity resulting in pollution & unsustainable activities such as destructive fishing, sand mining, quarrying & logging are increasingly threatening aquatic habitats in Northeastern Himalayan region.
New research shows that India’s ambitious Interlinking of Rivers (ILR) programme can spread invasive, alien fish to waterbodies that are home to endangered fish species, posing ecological, economic, and livelihood threats.
The Andhra Pradesh government has released approximately 10 million Gambusia fish into the state’s water bodies to combat mosquito-borne diseases like malaria and dengue. The fish, also known as mosquitofish, is widely used as a biological agent for controlling mosquito larvae.
Introduction of a new species can wreak havoc on an ecosystem. In the 1920s, India introduced the Gambusia fish in water bodies to control mosquitoes.
It disrupted food webs and caused ecological imbalances.
@NeobiotaGroup Despite numerous emails, I'm yet to receive last year's conference certificates. Disappointingly, no clarifications have been provided by them either :/
Fantastic to welcome delegates to the Student Conference on Conservation Science both here, in person, and those joining virtually from around the world. #SCCS2023
Rampant grazing in reserved forests leads to habitat loss for wildlife and eDNA is an effective
molecular tool to manage this

I've been using Mendeley Desktop daily for years, & have an annotated library of thousands of pdfs. Today, I switched to Zotero. Here's a 🧵of tips on how to do this, if you're also tired of Elsevier's BS and want to make the switch w/minimal effort while maintaining workflow.
Having such a good time interacting and giving a talk in SCCS New York 2022 ! Thanks to all the mentors and organizers :) @Chris_J_Rivera @ALPorze Erin Betley, Nadav, Syn Yin Lim #SCCSNY2022
