KUZANA is more than a conference. It is a launchpad for turning Zimbabwe’s sporting and creative talent into investment, jobs and economic growth, empowering youth and accelerating Vision 2030 @MinSport_ArtsZw@ChronicleZim@napoleonnyanhi@CMufana37063
@nickmangwana May this new mandate translate Zimbabwe’s vast opportunities into investment, enterprise, jobs and sustainable growth. Congratulations on your appointment
@zimlive Wishing the newly appointed ministers every success as they take on their new responsibilities. May their leadership bring fresh momentum, stronger execution and meaningful results for Zimbabwe.
As the UN Special Rapporteur wraps up her tour of Mat North, perhaps the narrative around Binga will also change.
Beyond the outdated stereotypes of a hard marijuana grade (probably the one that hit Macheso during the funeral wake of Chivhayo) lies a district rich in opportunity and increasingly, evidence of real progress. The 65km Mlibizi water system has been rehabilitated, restoring reliable water to thousands of people, while schools and health facilities have also benefited; new clinics have been completed.
The Binga Airstrip rehabilitated, schools and homes electrified, and major road, irrigation, skills-training and civil-registration projects are underway. Add to that the economic potential of Lake Kariba’s fisheries and eco-tourism, resilient Tonga heritage, thriving craft industries and climate-smart agriculture, and Binga’s story is clearly bigger than the tired tropes. It is a story of communities building, adapting and creating opportunities and it is time to look beyond the misconceptions and invest in Binga’s real story.

This initiative reminds us that national development is not measured only by roads, buildings and technology. It is also measured by whether a nation remembers, respects and protects its identity. ZimCulturalDiversity
🇿🇼❤️ FIRST LADY DR AUXILLIA MNANGAGWA'S DOEK DRIVE: REVIVING OUR CULTURE, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND PRESERVING OUR HERITAGE
A doek is more than just a piece of cloth. It symbolises dignity, respect, womanhood, cultural identity and the rich traditions passed down from our mothers and grandmothers.
Through her flagship Doek Drive, Zimbabwe's First Lady, Her Excellency Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, is championing the revival of our cultural values, empowering women and encouraging younger generations to embrace and preserve their African heritage.
Launched in Shamva, Mashonaland Central Province, in May 2026, the initiative has reached communities in Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Mashonaland East, Midlands, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo and Harare, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring that no woman, community or province is left behind.
The overwhelming turnout in Bulawayo, where women gathered in colourful doeks, imvunulo and traditional wrapping cloths, reflected the beauty of Zimbabwe's cultural diversity, unity and pride.
Beyond traditional dressing, the Doek Drive promotes Ubuntu/Unhu, respect, family values and the empowerment of women and young girls. It reminds us that embracing modern development should never mean forgetting our roots.
As Zimbabwe progresses towards Vision 2030, Her Excellency continues to demonstrate that cultural preservation, women's empowerment and national development go hand in hand.
🇿🇼 Dhuku redu, hunhu hwedu, tsika dzedu, nhaka yedu! Our culture, our identity, our pride!

Bulawayo is showing what’s possible when our minerals meet local talent, innovation and enterprise. Our lithium should become batteries, businesses, skills and jobs right here at home. AsakhiZim through @ZimGvt_NDS1
It was a pleasure to host a dinner in honour of Zimbabwe Care from the United States, celebrating an enduring partnership with the Angel of Hope Foundation that, since 2018, has helped bring quality healthcare closer to communities across Zimbabwe.
My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Zimbabwe Care medical professionals from the United States and our local health personnel, whose time, expertise and resources supported the week-long Masvingo outreach and helped essential medical supplies and other donations reach families in need.
This partnership is a beautiful example of what can be achieved when international solidarity comes together with local commitment. We remain committed to strengthening this partnership and ensuring that its benefits continue to touch the lives of our people.
https://t.co/Sdzff7Bqna True leadership is not found in speeches or political rhetoric but in how quickly Government @edmnangagwa moves to restore normal life. From Kariba to Masvingo, job well done!!
Following the devastating hailstorm that struck Masvingo on October 5, a state of emergency has been declared by President @edmnangagwa. Thats servant leadership. Restoring the community and making it work again #EDelivers https://t.co/DL5bdYVsHB
For decades, some of Kariba water boundaries lacked any physical markers on the water. This total lack of visibility frequently put ferries in danger.
Now action is being done to avoid these dangers!
Under the leadership of the President, the Zimbabwean government is taking decisive action to protect lives, maintain peace, and secure the livelihoods of communities around Lake Kariba.
By working directly through the Zambezi River Authority which is a shared body with Zambia, the government is proactively stepping in to ensure that past boundary confusion, accidental arrests, and maritime tragedies on the lake do not happen again.
To fix this long-standing vulnerability, the government launched the installation of high-visibility floating buoys on 12 July 2026. Placed at one-kilometer intervals, these buoys cover the critical stretch from the Kariba dam wall to the Sampa Karuma group of islands, giving lake users an undeniable reference point on the water.
This hands-on initiative directly addresses safety while safeguarding local rights. Managed by the Surveyors General of both Zimbabwe and Zambia alongside joint Standard Operating Procedures, the project establishes a calm, orderly, and fair process for handling any accidental crossings. Importantly, existing fishing rights, island ownership, and national immigration laws remain unchanged.
Through these continuous, practical measures on Lake Kariba, the President and his administration demonstrate an ongoing commitment to protecting Zimbabwean citizens and preventing future disasters before they occur.

His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa did not have to physically stand on the shores of Lake Kariba for the State to respond.
He declared the tragedy a State of Disaster, dispatched Minister Daniel Garwe and a Government delegation to Kariba, and directed that affected familes receive State assisted burials, medical assistance and psychosocial support.
The First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa also went personally to Kariba and share the President's condolence message.
Beyond the visits, Government mobilised search and rescue teams, rolled out food and social support, provided assistance for affected children and families and approved a wider recovery package covering livelihoods, roads and a newly purchased state of the art ferry, early warning systems and disaster preparedness.
Leadership in a disaster must ultimately be measured by the response mobilised, the families reached and the recovery put in motion.
