Cricket Valley is an 1100mW fracked gas power plant on the CT line in Dover, NY. More than 1200 schoolchildren are in harm’s way - within 5 miles of the plant.
I was excited to join so many New Yorkers in Albany on Monday to demand URGENT action on climate and environmental justice in New York. https://t.co/ATWb7h3aVz
The Finger Lakes is a world-class wine and tourist destination that provides thousands of jobs and injects billions of dollars into New York’s economy every year. I am firmly opposed to the Crestwood Gas Storage Project and the Romulus garbage incinerator.
The Crestwood Liquefied Petroleum Gas Storage Project would:
⚠️ Import 1.5 million barrels of liquid propane from Texas and store it under Seneca Lake
⚠️ Pose a threat to Seneca Lake
⚠️ Burn 2,640 tons of garbage every day near an elementary school.
I say NO.
Fracked gas pipelines are frequently built near low-income communities and communities of color, posing serious health risks. My climate plan would create hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs and investment in the frontline communities most impacted by climate change.
So true! Cricket Valley is ~90 miles north of NYC and will dump 3 MILLION TONS of CO2 into the NY and CT air A YEAR..... To line the pockets of its Japanese, Chinese and Korean investors with profit. Systematic pillaging of America’s resources for cash. #StopCricketValley https://t.co/aJuAju1EIy
@CynthiaNixon Thank you!!! Cricket Valley will pump more than THREE MILLION TONS of CO2 a year into the NY and CT atmosphere. While consumers pay a surcharge on their electric bills to ensure CV investors from Japan and China get their profits. Shameful!!!!
Investing in more fracked gas infrastructure will lock New York into decades of more emissions, posing serious health risks for surrounding communities. The Spectra AIM pipeline expansion and the Hudson Valley CPV plant must be stopped.
Parents told me about nosebleeds, rashes, respiratory problems and asthma, dying pets and noises so loud their kids can't sleep. The health of our communities is at stake and anything less than immediate action is just not good enough.
I have a message for Governor Cuomo: Fracked gas is NOT a “bridge” to a renewable energy. We must immediately end investment in all new fossil fuel plants and pipelines and instead invest in moving New York toward 100% renewable energy.
Maybe he wants to investigate what is happening 8 miles from his country home - Cricket Valley fracked gas power plant is an environmental disaster and built on quid pro quo. Everyone who investigates ends up silent. @CynthiaNixon https://t.co/q6xtXng7Us
.@JeffreyToobin almost went to jail for his first book, accused of revealing secrets and strategies of the ongoing Iran-Contra investigation. More great stories @heresthething,

I pledge that if I am elected Governor I will not approve any new use of fracked gas in New York State. Andrew Cuomo should take the same pledge. New York should not build fossil fuel power plants or pipelines that threaten our environment and contribute to climate change.
Pramilla Malick's response to Cynthia Nixon: "We welcome all new voices in opposition to the CPV Valley power plant #BuiltOnBribes& lies. But residents of Orange County would like to see @CynthiaNixon stand with the victims at the crime scene & pledge to shut it down if elected."
Protect Orange County chair Pramilla Malick calls for stronger response in press release. Wants state Legislature to start oversight hearings about the CPV project and state health commissioner to shut down plant based on residents' complaints.
