I’m pleased that the government has accepted the PPP’s suggestion to jointly engage politically with the opposition in an effort to find political solutions to political problems.

The challenge of terrorism has become an existential threat to Pakistan, particularly given the active support these groups receive from neighbouring countries.

I hope these talks conclude with the opposition unconditionally calling off its long march, allowing us to come together as a nation to combat the menace of terrorism and address the threats emanating from neighbouring countries.

The PPP has been, and will always remain, committed to combating terrorism through any and all constitutional means.

Deeply saddened by the passing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum @HHShkMohd, the entire Al Maktoum family, and all those mourning this profound loss.

At this difficult time, we feel the sorrow of our Emirati brothers and sisters as our own and stand with them in prayer and solidarity.

On #InternationalDayOfPeace, we are holding an Aman Mela/Peace Festival in Larkana to celebrate peace, unity and hope.

War is never confined to the battlefield. It raises the price of food and fuel, destroys livelihoods, displaces families and burdens the poorest most. From Gaza to occupied Kashmir, the world needs dialogue over confrontation, diplomacy over escalation and justice over silence.

Peace is personal to the Pakistan Peoples Party. Our martyrs, leaders and generations of workers have paid the ultimate price for democracy, freedom and a better future. We know the cost of violence, extremism and political persecution, and refuse to let another generation inherit the cost of war.

Let us invest in peace before paying for another conflict. We choose unity over division, hope over hatred and humanity over war.

My speech on Budget 2025:

- Condemn US strikes on Iran
- Congratulated Pakistan on victory over India militarily & now diplomatically.
- Argued that when we advocate for Peace we do so in the interest of the people of India as well as the people of Pakistan.
- appreciated Govt in consultation with PPP team for:
- tax relief to salaried class; now zero tax on income of 10 lakh Rs or less
- increase in salaries and pension
- 20% increase in Benazir Income Support program for the most vulnerable
- 50% decrease in initial proposal for solar tax on PPP request
- withdrawal of unconstitutional federal tax on digital services on ppp request
- also restoration of full funding for Sindh Higher education with was initially arbitrarily cut by 50%
- regretted that despite PPPs demand
- south Punjab not allotted their rightful % in federal PSDP,
- Baluchistan & KP counter terrorism federal funding for hearts & minds component not included.
- Agriculture emergency & special funding also not included cited 800 billion rs loss to wheat farmers in Punjab and Sindh.

Finally advised government against constructing any new dam without first challenging Indias violation of Indus water treaty. We will continue to raise our voice for the Indus River and Indus Valley civilization at all forms. Government must challenge all violations of Indus water treaty through treaty mechanisms. Any attempt by India to dam or carve out new canals of the Indus will be an act of war.

Led the HL delegation in meeting with Mr. Olof Skoog @OlofBSkoog, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service. We cautioned: Pakistan achieved a ceasefire, not peace. South Asia remains perched on a nuclear fault line, one unverified spark could ignite full-scale war. India’s dangerous new norm has militarised diplomacy and violated Pakistan’s sovereignty, including the launch of a dual-use missile into our territory. We urged the EU, the last principled defender of the rules-based order, to champion a comprehensive dialogue on Kashmir, which must also create space for meaningful counterterrorism cooperation, and address India’s weaponisation of water, an existential threat to 240M Pakistanis and a breach of the UN Charter. We also flagged India’s hyper-politicisation of FATF and GSP+, undermining vital global mechanisms. Pakistan remains committed to peace, counterterrorism, and democratic reform, and reiterates: dialogue, not denial, is the only path to durable stability.

Had an interactive discussion, along with Pakistan’s HL delegation, with the Egmont, the Royal Institute of International Relations in Brussels, where the rule of law still matters. Shared how India’s “new abnormal” under Modi justifies missile strikes and nuclear brinkmanship, no proof and on mere suspicion, violating Pakistan’s sovereignty, recklessly firing BrahMos missiles at civilian infrastructure. Expressed deep concern over India’s illegal suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, collective punishment of 240M Pakistanis, cloaked in the rhetoric of “terrorism.”
Despite provocations, Pakistan has exercised restraint, fulfilled FATF reforms, and partners with the EU, US & UK on countering terrorism, all of whom recognize Pakistan’s sacrifices and concrete actions against terrorism, while India rejects dialogue, mediation, and even evidence.
