I went on @NEWSMAX discussing Trump‘s new executive order regarding homelessness. When implemented this will save thousands of lives. My concern though is the Homeless Industrial Complex has already indicated they will not comply.
"Gray said on any given night, there could be 6,000 to 6,500 people sleeping unsheltered on the streets."
Austin's PIT count for this year was 3,238.
Interesting that Gray's number is a lot closer to ours than the PIT count.

This site was cleared out late last summer but not completely. Down in the first valley is about 2-3 tents put together as one. Not the best place to set up camp. An insane amount of bugs, spiders and most likely snakes. I don’t know that the valley has actually seen water flow in decades.
The mapping is being tracked with @nomadik_ai. This app has been my key to recording, building and staying on track with the info I collect when performing outreach. All of the little green lines are me covering the area. It shows proof of human and hazardous waste presence in all areas I cover. It has many more capabilities waiting to be used. It is free to the public.
The trash that was left at the edge of the valley from the last clean up is a lot to witness. Also brought the new team member out with Sansa and I to get his training in. He’s (Bosch) a natural, considering he was born in this type of environment. 🐕

Interesting to see @austintexasgov taking many of the features we've been building for them and try to implement it themselves.

We want to thank @TanParkerTX for bringing SB 2487 to the Texas Legislature and were happy to provide our support at the Senate Committe on State Affairs.
HHS was paying the NPO Endeavours $18m a month for an empty facility. Voters wonder why nothing gets done about the homeless crisis.

How does Austin decide which homeless encampments to target? It's based on several metrics surrounding public safety and nearby infrastructure, city officials said.

A homeless camp on 37 acres of wooded area in southeast Austin was recently closed due to “high wildfire risk”. The city said it relocated 32 people from the encampment near Ben White Boulevard and Montopolis Boulevard.
The Austin Fire Department responded to 35 fire-related calls at this location in 2024.
Did you know there’s an app that plots all known camps in Austin?
Largest by far is in @VanessaForATX district.
Thanks for covering this. If you want to make your career highlight ALL of them and the deliberate insistence that @austintexgov nurture an environment where they THRIVE.
Coming up at 10pm tonight on #KXAN… People are asking why nothing is being done at this homeless encampment in South Austin. Complaints about open drug use, trash piling up, open fires and vandalism have been brought up, but why has the camp continued to grow for months?
