and..
"In 2017 in response to request from Iranian authorities, Durov blocked one of Iran's main opposition channels"
If by some miracle you're reading this post. Please help spread the warning to Iranians that Telegram is Russian spyware and shouldn't be used or trusted.
If you see a post mentioning Telegram however casually, reply with a warning that it is Russian spyware.

The genius of United Front work: it's designed so operatives never feel like pawns. No one gets asked to 'spy'. Instead, they use hometown sentiment, honorary titles, business networks...
Participants can deny it in good faith. But ignorance doesn't cancel influence. Their credibility and access to British institutions have already been put to use.
That's why FIRS registration isn't accusation, it's transparency.
Very happy to be able to contribute to this story.
During the recent protests, South Koreans ripped up Chinese flags.
The CCP wants influence in South Korea.
The CCP wants leverage in South Korea.
The CCP wants obedience from South Korea.
What it got instead was people tearing up its flag.
Noticed some time ago, any time you search eg. @Google News or even other search engines these days results are populated with multiple fake articles on sites I never heard of, frequently titled so oddly you wonder how it gets past any checks, and LLMs seem fairly oblivious.
russia has developed a new covert strategy of information warfare aimed at distorting information in global search engines and AI programs.
russian special services are massively flooding the internet with millions of automated fake articles.
Urgent 🚨
Hong Kong Ex-journalist/councillor, founder of the independent “Hunter Bookstore” Leticia Wong, is arrested under nat. sec. ordinance “act with seditious intention ” and money laundering. Another man is also arrested.

The final front page said it all: "Hong Kongers bid a painful farewell in the rain." On June 24, 2021, #AppleDaily printed its last issue after authorities froze the company's assets and arrested its leadership under the National Security Law. One million people still showed up to get a copy.
#AppleDaily is gone, but the fight isn’t over. #JimmyLai, the paper's founder, and six senior staff remain behind bars, with Lai passing 2,000 days in prison on Monday.
We demand their immediate release.
“The era is falling apart before us and it is time for us to stand tall and keep our heads high.”
In a letter from prison, days before being sentenced, Jimmy Lai wrote to his fellow journalists at Apple Daily, urging them to take care of themselves.
“Freedom of speech is a dangerous job,” he wrote. On the day of Jimmy Lai’s arrest, hundreds of police raided the Apple Daily newsroom. It was an act of political suppression. Jimmy Lai has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for national security offenses. Six other former employees remain behind bars.
June 24, 2021, was the day Apple Daily printed its final issue. We haven’t forgotten their courage.
#FreeJimmyLai
@KenRoth I agree with the headline, but found a lot to be desired in the rest of the article, which is incredibly rose-tinted to say the least, and pushes an erroneous view of PRC as a sort of "decentralized" republic/federation, which couldn't be further from the truth.
#HongKong: Jimmy Lai has been imprisoned for 2,000 days. His health has deteriorated dangerously as he continues to be subjected to solitary confinement. RSF once again urges democratic leaders worldwide to live up to their commitments & secure the British publisher’s release.

While the paid Pakistani prostitutes of the Islamic Regime promote fake news and propaganda about "no mandatory hijab" in Occupied Iran, here's what's actually happening to Iranian women when the world isn't paying attention:
Philippines once seized over 500 critically endangered sea turtles from a Chinese fishing boat right near Scarborough Shoal
All while they lecture the world about protecting the marine environment in Scarborough Shoal
This is what their “conservation” looks like.
Putin put two of his fellow Leningrad Chekists in charge of policing Russia's image of its past, present & future. #SVR director Sergei Naryshkin is the head of the Russian Historical Society and the former prime minister & ex #FSB director Sergei Stepashin is the head of the Russian Book Union (overseeing book publishing). Censorship comes natural to Stepashin given that he was a Communist ideology instructor at a police academy in the 1980s, whereas Naryshkin was an unremarkable Line X #KGB officer in Brussels before being exposed by a colleague & recalled to the USSR.
Andy Burnham, new UK PM, in 2018 on a trade mission to China while he was Manchester's mayor:
"The future of a global world is one of cities working together across borders and seas and making the difference – centralised power is rapidly becoming a thing of the past."
I sincerely hope UK Parliament will grill him on these views and whether anything has, to his mind, changed, in his eyes, since that trade mission in 2018. @hk_watch@ipacglobal
