@astrophysics@scorfano Yes, it's really bad, and as someone who is very successful in this cycle (while being unsuccessful in others), I think we need to advocate for a smoother funding decrease! We have been lucky to have Hubble support, but if it must be significantly reduced, it needs to be gradual.
@rcrain_astro Jeez, good thing I'm not your neighbor, Rob. Our trash day is Tuesday and the median of me bringing the bins back up has been Thursday lately (and once embarrassingly on Friday). Yes, I'm "that neighbor" and I don't even talk to the "Rob Crain" of our neighborhood.
@rcrain_astro @NateSilver538 I'm usually such an acolyte, wavering a bit recently. But I'm back in that camp now, because far more would rather Crain In rather than Crain Out. Bask in your exceptionalism. ;)
What happens when you observe quasar absorption sight lines along the disc axis of inclined spiral galaxies? If the real Universe is like IllustrisTNG50, we'll see extended CGM discs with complex kinematic substructures.
You gotta watch this speech from Rep Justin Jones as Tennessee Republicans attempt to expel him and two others for simply standing with students demanding gun safety. Republicans know they are on the losing side of history. This is proof
#TenneseeThree
What the absolute fuck.
Tennessee legislature has expelled Justin Jones for protesting, but did NOT expel Gloria Johnson who was protesting alongside him.
Iโll let you figure out what the difference between the two is hereโฆ
Sports tweet: Wow I would not want anything to do with Buffalo right now. Unless I was a geography professor or ran my own dental practice, or have an excess of foldable tables.
Of all states, Colorado is the symbol for a bright political future. If it holds, CO-03 is the most exciting and unexpected result of the whole election.
@rcrain_astro @jps_astro The Malthusian catastrophe of vegetable oil can be compensated for by using whale blubber, which I do not see on this graph likely because it has not increased.
