Lemme tell you a secret about art.
Idgaf how bad you think you draw. If you keep drawing exaaactly like that, and make enough stuff exaaactly like that. People will assume that you draw like that by choice and they’ll just call it your style.
Art is just committing to the bit.
Today especially, remember: there’s theatre to celebrate every day, everywhere, in prosceniums and parks, in storefronts and schools, professional and amateur, daring and delightful, diverse and inclusive, classic and new, spoken & sung & silent. Honor it all, always.
I have so many things to say on this topic, but I'll just highlight this and let y'all know that my summer stock is still looking for a props artisan lol if you want to find a small pocket of sanity with a decent manager (me)
the key to longevity in institutional theatre is recognizing that every theatre is wildly dysfunctional in its own way and it's a matter of finding a situation where you can carve out a small pocket of sanity with a decent manager to insulate yourself from the chaos
I want to be like "wish she could see how successful and confident I am now" but thinking about her makes my skin crawl so maybe it's best we never cross paths ever again
Going through old photos and screenshots just to find emails I had saved from the production manager who spent three years belittling me and trying to tell me I don't deserve to work in theatre, haha that felt good 🥴
