This tribe has 545 members. How do we let some village that may or may not be in the path of the pipeline block a project at the expense of the other 40m people in canada just because they think they are entitled to a cut of the flow?
Development is part of building a nation.
David Eby complains of secret backroom deals, yet that’s exactly what he has done with the public assets and land of BC, giving them away to First Nations behind the backs of taxpayers
Just sit this one out Dave
This is the Cactus Club in Langley this morning. Last night there was a shooting there, and people were hurt.
That makes three in four days. On Friday a tourist was shoved into traffic in Chinatown. Sunday night a man was stabbed in the neck at Main and Hastings. Then this.
For years, David Eby and the NDP have told us that leaving someone in psychosis on a sidewalk is the compassionate thing to do. I've never bought it. Compassion would have been getting that person into care. Instead we have a province where people check over their shoulder at the bus stop.
Here's what we'll do.
✅ Put more police in the neighbourhoods that are hit hardest.
✅ Get people in severe addiction crisis into care, instead of leaving them on the street.
✅ Shut down the so-called safe supply that ends up on street corners and in the hands of kids.
✅ Hire 1,000 more police, prosecutors, judges and support staff so repeat offenders face real consequences.
And we'll publish the numbers, so you can judge for yourself whether your neighbourhood is actually getting safer.
Strong leadership for serious times.
This is not a millionnaire’s tax. This is a tax hit on double income families. The ultra millionaires who might be affected by this would just simply move their place of residency. This is a cynical election ploy.
The BC New Democrats seem to be the last gasp of Trudeauism. Anti-growth redistribution, excessive identity politics and preening progressivism. Even as the federal Liberals distance themselves from the “lost decade”, David Eby is determined to double down on its failures.
I reckon British Columbians would be more willing to pay Scandinavia-level taxes if we had Scandinavia-level public services, infrastructure, and quality of life.
Without a tangible plan to provide the latter, the former will be a tough sell...
We need people to create products/businesses which provide the opportunity for hard working families. The creators will always get the biggest payout, as they took the most risk. We should not demonize this.
That is not to say the lack of "real wage growth" is a serious problem in most modern economies.
Canada should move towards prudent fiscal and monetary policy, coupled with investment in productive assets such as infrastructure, education, and productivity-enhancing projects.
Higher productivity is the single most reliable source of long-run wage growth.
BC housing policy: Buy a second home? Speculator. Leave it empty? Vacancy tax. Sell within two years? Flipping tax. Keep it too long? Hoarder. Buy too nice a house? Luxury tax. Build new housing? Greedy developer.
Calling an election because your opponent is in chaos, not because the province needs one, isn't leadership, it's opportunism.
David Eby's timing may be legal, but it's not principled. Democracy deserves better than this, regardless of party.
Friendly Reminder:
The last time the NDP were re-elected their first priority was to give themselves a pay raise…
At a time of record inflation and cost of living for BC residents.
I have never voted Conservative in my life. The last election I threw my vote to an Independent when the BC United folded. But if Eby calls an election, I will vote for any Conservative going against this cynical NDP govt and I'm betting I won't be the only one #bcpoli
