Президент Трамп сообщил миру, что Соединённые Штаты выиграли Вторую Мировую войну. В Америке мало кто удивился, потому что множество людей там так думает.

Президент Путин не раз сообщал миру, что Вторую Мировую войну выиграл Советский Союз. В последние годы как-то всё яснее звучит добавление к этой фразе — иногда в подтексте, а подчас и открыто: во главе с Иосифом Виссарионовичем Сталиным. В России, думаю, мало кто этому удивляется, потому что множество людей уже очень давно привыкли думать именно так.

Так и хочется спросить: президенты, почему вы не учите историю???

Дональд, иди-ка к доске! Ну-ка расскажи про Московскую, Сталинградскую, Курскую битвы. Не знаешь? Садись, два!

Вовочка, ты там опять пакостничаешь на последней парте? Отвечай быстро, как англичане остановили немецкие танки под Эль-Аламейном и не дали Гитлеру захватить Суэцкий канал и ближневосточную нефть? А как американцы сражались у атолла Мидуэй? Как бились на Филиппинах? Сражались за Иводзиму?

Не знаешь? Придётся и тебе влепить двоечку.

А помните ли вы, что с лета 1940 по лето 1941 в мире была только одна страна, противостоявшая Гитлеру — и это не была ни Америка, ни СССР, а Великобритания?

Что были ещё партизаны по всей Европе: в Польше, в Югославии, во Франции? Товарищ Сталин, кстати, сильно им мешал — французских коммунистов, жаждавших сражаться против захватчиков, огорошил пактом Молотова-Риббентропа, Армии Крайовой нанёс смертельный удар, обеспечив разгром фашистами Варшавского восстания…

Да и вообще, Вовочка, неплохо бы вспомнить, как товарищ Сталин сначала сговаривался с Гитлером о том, как им разделить Европу, и только после, когда на него напали, запел про «Священную войну»?

А то, какую огромную, просто исполинскую роль в победе сыграли американские поставки по ленд-лизу, Вовочка, ты помнишь? И нет, Дональд, Рузвельт не грабил СССР так, как ты собираешься ограбить Украину.

А товарищ Сталин, Вовочка, сначала разгромил собственную армию, потом ещё в 41-м нашёл виноватых среди собственных генералов и их расстрелял, потом отрёкся от своих пленных, поставил позади собственных войск заградотряды с пулемётами, всех — от солдата до маршала — затерроризировал смершевцами, загубил намного больше своих солдат, чем нужно было для победы, а потом ещё приучил нас гордиться числом погибших, как будто это великое достижение, а не позорное преступление.

И неужели, жалкие двоечники, вы никак не можете понять, что фашизм, как и любое другое зло, побеждают все вместе? Что вся суть заключалась как раз в том, что советские солдаты героически сражались в Европе, а американцы — на Тихом океане, британцы — в Африке? Что это были объединённые усилия?

Ну посмотрели бы мои лекции по истории Второй мировой, что ли?

И сейчас, Вовочка, когда я смотрю, как ты используешь придуманную, искорёженную, оболганную твоими пропагандистами историю войны, чтобы оправдывать собственные мерзости, а ты, Дональд, раскалываешь и без того хилое единство западных стран и губишь Украину ради каких-то воображаемых преимуществ для Америки, то мне хочется сказать вам обоим: пошли вон из класса, видеть вас больше не хочу.

It is worth noting that after their meeting in Moscow, Fico and Putin did not issue joint statements or respond to media questions. They simply cannot say publicly anything about what they discussed in the meeting. They are afraid of the public's reaction.

Moscow provides significant discounts to Fico, but Slovakia pays for them. Such discounts are not free—payments to Russia are made through sovereignty or murky schemes. This should be a matter of concern for Slovakia's law enforcement and special services.

Details about such financing were revealed during a recent meeting of European leaders in Brussels. Leaders observed that Mr. Fico does not want to participate in the common European work on energy independence or seek replacement for Russian gas, but rather wants to assist Russia in pushing American gas and energy resources of other partners away from Europe, implying that he wants to help Putin earn money to fund the war and weaken Europe.

We are losing people as a result of the war that Putin started, and we believe that such assistance to Putin is immoral.

Mr. Fico even refused compensations to ease the transition period and get rid of dependence, meaning it is not a security issue for him. He is interested specifically in the Russian gas and the matter’s worth is 500 million U.S. dollars per year. Other profits come from the oil pipe that runs through the Ukrainian territory and gives another 500 million U.S. dollars per year, which helps Mr. Fico.

That is why his key goal is to deal with Russia, and this is what benefits him. This is indeed a big security issue — both for Slovakia and the entire Europe. Why is this leader so dependent on Moscow? What is being paid to him, and what does he pay with?

Lately, I’ve heard the same sentiment repeated over and over: everything seems to be going Putin’s way. He’s confident, moving from victory to victory, achieving all his goals.

Yet, this week, Putin effectively announced plans to completely block YouTube in Russia. So confident in himself that he’s battling a video-hosting platform. Things are supposedly going so well for him that he’s afraid of the truth.

The slowdown of YouTube began back in the summer, but the regime chose to deliver the final blow during the New Year holidays—a traditional time for sneaky acts, hoping that ordinary people, too preoccupied with figuring out how to afford food for the holiday table, won’t notice.

Technologically, Putin’s regime has the means to block YouTube in Russia. But does that mean all hope is lost? That tens of millions of Russians will lose access to uncensored information and fall victim to Putin’s propaganda? Not necessarily.

This is where I want to address @Google, the corporation that owns YouTube. Tens of millions of your users in Russia are not just numbers in a report. They are real people, many of whom see your platform as their only window to the free world, their sole source of information and support. These users have placed their trust in you, and you can—and must—stand up for them.

We know it can be done. In 2018, Roskomnadzor tried to block Telegram. The messaging app fought back by embedding anti-censorship tools directly into its platform. After two years of futile attempts, Putin’s censors had to admit defeat. More recently, in 2024, the Signal messaging app was also targeted for blocking. But the attempt failed because Signal implemented bypass mechanisms, ensuring it remained accessible to Russian users.

Putin’s censorship can be defeated—if you choose to fight it. Without resistance, the only outcome is loss: loss of freedom and betrayal of the millions of users who depend on you.

We must help everyone we can to learn the truth. Because in the end, truth always prevails.

There’s a lot of discussion in the media about lowering the draft age for Ukrainians to go to the frontlines. We must focus on equipping existing brigades and training personnel to use this equipment. We must not compensate the lack of equipment and training with the youth of soldiers.

The priority should be providing missiles and lowering Russia’s military potential, not Ukraine’s draft age. The goal should be to preserve as many lives as possible, not to preserve weapons in storages.

The most important thing is to work together on how to end this war—that is our top priority. During the meeting in Paris, this was exactly what we focused on, and it was a very productive conversation. I reiterate my gratitude to President Macron for organizing it, as well as my deep gratitude to President Trump for his strong resolve to bring this war to a fair end. This is the right approach, and it is important that all details are thoroughly worked out to ensure that peace is truly durable.

We know that America has the capacity to accomplish remarkable things—things that others have not been able to achieve. To succeed in ending this war, we need unity—the unity of America, Europe, and everyone in the world who values security—as well as strong positions and guarantees for peace.

I told President Trump that Putin fears only him and, perhaps, China. And that’s the truth—only decisiveness can bring this war to a just end and ensure lasting peace.

Action is needed now to restore the proper international order.
