@seveibar This looks horrible ! And probably non functional too; routing the power traces under the IC, using small vias to route power when a simple 90degrees rotation would have allowed to stay on the same layer. Happy to see humans engineers still have a few more years ahead of them.
The @crowd_supply funding campaign for the Solder Ninja Pen ends in just a few hours. I'm profoundly grateful for all the support it's received. If you're looking to upgrade your toolkit, now's your chance to grab one! 😀 https://t.co/HQAo1c8jkj
@joelreymont@helenleigh Hey @joelreymont. It's different in many ways. Most notably, it's designed to use the incredibly sturdy and very ergonomic Weller RT Micro tips. For a more detailed comparison, check out https://t.co/xkuPzXhuQ0. Let me know if you have other questions :)!
@_one334@helenleigh Hey @_one334. That's a valid question! The Solder Ninja Pen is different in many ways. It's most notably designed to use the very sturdy Weller RT tips. Check out the comparison table https://t.co/xkuPzXi2Fy for more details. Here's a photo of the internals for the curious minds.
@OnyxCrack@helenleigh Agreed, after all it's the tip that does all the work. I have had incredibly good experiences with Weller RT tips. They are super sturdy, and after years of daily use they still work as well as day one.
@ChristianHJW@HancocksHalf@helenleigh Hey @ChristianHJW. Yes, the Solder Ninja Pen will accept low power supplies down to 7.5W. At that wattage it takes around 30s to reach 350°C (660°F). Obviously, the more watts the better, but I didn't see any reason to limit its functionality.
@ArbitraryOstric@helenleigh For added compactness, I'm sure you could probably use a USB Type-C to 2.5mm DC barrel with a USB PD trigger chip embedded. Something like that https://t.co/niN1Gw66Yt Sorry, typo, what I meant to say is buy my product :)
I've been waiting to get my hands on this USB-C soldering iron for two years. Delicious machined aluminum body with excellent balance, compatible with Weller tips, can take 7.5 - 45W. Amazing work @nschurando
I'm streaming LIVE from @hackaday Superconference at noon Pacific today. Join me for a tour of the space, a peek at the schedule and some nerdy conversations with @aleksorsist (Thunderscope), @arabidsquid (Jumperless), @securelyfitz (Tigard) and @nschurando (Solder Ninja Pen).
@patrick_riscv@sad_electronics@atc1441@propopi Hi Patrick, I would argue the contrary. I have made a dev board for the ch543, and I cannot get a program to compile. Basic software support is lacking. I'd love to see platformio support for it.

@AskAtlassian Thanks for getting back. I'm not even asking for custom color palettes. Just the ability to use actual red; instead of the orange you call red.
