We also have to differentiate bet. policy & ideology. Left & right have clashing policies. They usually do. That's part of democratic governance.

But for our gov't to function, both sides have to sign on to the pact of democratic governance.

There is only one side in American politics that is regularly giving aid and comfort to insurrectionists. I know blaming “both sides” is a Beltway reflex, but it’s not connected to reality.
