Busses will always be slower than private cars but you can’t fit 35,000 cars a day on that street. Speeding up busses benefits 6x as many people and speeds up freight delivery and emergency response.
@wongie@NYC_DOT During weekday rush it’s more like 50-70 busses an hour in a single direction. The 34 and 34a each run 8 busses an hour. There are another 5-10 from each of Brooklyn and Staten Island and another 20-25 from Queens.
