@ACABuwu@bernardtjoy Deal with this a lot when doing Macbeth with my students. "Today we're reading the book. Well, it's not really a book, it's a play, it's in the form of a book, but we're also not performing it, so it's more like dramatic literature, which brings us back to the "book" of it all.."
@RaypEatNanaya You’re wrong about some farming games, especially Harvest Moon SNES-AWL. Those games were highly aspirational in a grounded way. Slaying dragons in a game like Zelda mixed with achieving realistic goals of building a meaningful “IRL” family, business, and social life in HM is key
@kingcryopunk@snxwbaird I think it was a pretty healthy commentary on religiosity in all its forms. Your local spiritual fella goes on a more introspective run than you would have thought at the weekly bar trip. My fav part is it's a man proving he watches dat shit when it comes to film history
@kingcryopunk@snxwbaird Even if the intended audience was originally 18 years old, it's been 7 years since the season 1. That audience is well into their 20s by now -- and even then, I don't think the intended audience was ever teens. Show's too smart
@OwenShroyer1776@EvanAKilgore lol this guys plays it off like he stopped the video, screencapped this section, posted as if to say "the gov is talking aliens" and then later realized "oh it was aliens like human immigrants"
@survivorsavage Correct. Probst didn’t become executive producer of CBS Survivor until 2010, so he had less say on the direction of every season before about Nicaragua
@sleepingskip@chaandmami For my money, I think it's enough to just say that books like McCarthy or Infinite Jest or even something like Hemingway are "Really Good Books," but I wouldn't call them canonical classics
