From 75+kgs to 49kgs 😭😭🙏comrade Yasin Ssekitoleko (Machete) is going to die in prison if we don't fight for his freedom.
After 4 years in detention without trial and following the Supreme Court ruling, he is on hunger strike protesting the regime's deliberate decision to keep them under illegal detention.

Imagine this:
You’re a very old man or an old woman in a gomesi, kneeling before some fool just for money—don’t you feel ashamed?
This is a very big shame!
If you were my spouse, I would beat you and break your ribs for that level of disgrace!
You have betrayed the Acholi people—you, our so-called leaders.
For what? Lust, money, fame, and mere positions and ranks. You don’t care about the common person anymore. Most of the very people we elected have sold us out.
Are you seeing how they are defecting to NRM?
The genuine NRM members are those who started with Museveni from the beginning. But these defectors—they are just opportunists looking to fatten their bellies and pockets.
These days, politicians are scheming for a shortcut to wealth.
The Acholi people—we are being tested by the devil in every possible way.
During the days of the IDP camps, people pleaded and lamented to God:
“God, you have abandoned us.”
But do you still cry to God today? No!
Now you go and cry at Saleh’s home in Bardege Layibi Division thinking he will solve your problems.
Even our politicians—yes, even the artists—they all rush there these days, kneeling for peanuts.
Instead of kneeling before Saleh, why not kneel before God?
There’s no one who will satisfy you other than the Almighty God.
You worship wealthy people because you want a shortcut to wealth—a shortcut to higher positions.
But now, in this season of Lent, ask yourself:
Which God do you worship?
Which God do you kneel and bow to?
Do you get your wealth from God or from human beings?
The wealth that isn’t from God will never make you happy—it will always end in tears.
Jesus defeated the devil because He resisted temptation—but you are willing to ruin your reputation for the love of free things.
Think about the Acholi of the past. We were known for being trustworthy, brilliant people who stood by their word—people who wouldn’t accept nonsense.
But now—we have changed. We are no longer honest or trustworthy.
Look at how our politicians have aided in grabbing our land.
All in the name of wealth and positions—our leaders have sold us out.
You used to say “Yellow is bad, full of crooks who don’t love Ugandans.”
What changed? Why are you joining them now?
In Bwobo and Guru-guru, foreigners are grabbing land—and the government justifies it by calling them forest reserves.
And who is helping them? Our own leaders.
They are busy evicting people wherever they find wealth beneath the soil.
Soon, they will even attempt to evict us from Holy Rosary Parish if they discover wealth underneath.
These people are crazy!
APWOYO! 🙏
Chairman NRM UK and Ireland @nrmukireland, Allan Olara @AllanOlara5 had criticised the recent crackdown by @PoliceUg and the military @MODVA_UPDF against peaceful opposition supporters campaigning at the Kawempe North by-election. Interestingly, Olara stayed clear from accusing dictator @KagutaMuseveni or his son @mkainerugaba or the @NRMOnline government for their roles in maintaining repression in the country.
Olara's full unedited statement is below.
Brutality and Intimidation: A Growing Concern for Uganda’s Political Landscape
By Allan Olara
Chairman NRM UK and Ireland chapter
In a concerning development, recent events have once again highlighted the troubling actions of Uganda’s security forces, including the police and military, towards opposition supporters. What should have been a peaceful political rally turned into a scene of violence, as soldiers and police officers, deployed in full force, subjected unarmed civilians to unwarranted brutality. These individuals were part of a peaceful campaign opposing the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), which has maintained its dominance with the support of various security arms.
While NRM candidates and their allies continue to hold rallies without significant interference, opposition groups have faced acts of violence and obstruction. Eyewitness reports indicate that during a recent rally, opposition members were attacked without provocation, with some sustaining severe injuries, including bullet wounds and broken limbs. This raises the question: why are security forces targeting unarmed civilians?
The behavior of the police and military, particularly the Joint Anti-Terrorism (JAT) units, suggests an increasingly coordinated effort to suppress dissent and silence opposition voices. The excessive use of force against unarmed civilians raises serious concerns about the motives behind these actions. Some argue that these measures aim to instill fear and maintain control over a growing opposition. By resorting to violence, security forces send a clear message: opposing the government may come with severe consequences.
The deployment of armed forces to block opposition rallies appears to be part of a broader effort to undermine the legitimacy of the opposition. While the government portrays its actions as maintaining order, they can also be seen as attempts to restrict political freedoms. The police and military should, in theory, safeguard public safety, not intimidate and brutalize citizens exercising their democratic rights.
The key question remains: why is the opposition being actively blocked from campaigning? The answer may lie in the ruling party’s desire to preserve its long-standing grip on power. The NRM has been in control for decades, and as political dynamics evolve, opposition influence is growing. By restricting their ability to campaign freely, the government aims to suppress the political diversity that could threaten its dominance.
The state’s ongoing efforts to block opposition candidates from holding rallies—through arrests, violence, or restrictions on movement—appear to be a calculated move to maintain the status quo. This suggests a deep-seated fear of the power of free expression and opposition voices, with the ruling party seeking to preserve its hold on power, regardless of the cost.
The actions of the police and military, particularly the JAT units, are not only detrimental to the opposition but also to Uganda’s international standing. As reports of police brutality continue to emerge, Uganda’s image as a country that values human rights and democracy is being tarnished. The international community, including human rights organizations and foreign governments, is closely monitoring the situation, raising growing concerns about political freedoms and the rule of law in Uganda.
What is especially concerning is the perception that these actions may be condoned or overlooked by those in higher positions of power.
We have the numbers, but it’s vital for voters to safeguard their votes at the polling stations. Stay alert around those ballot boxes and during the counting process. #ProtestVote#ProtectTheVote#StopTheNRMSteal
The criminal regime has blocked our planned last rally at Bwaise 1, claiming that it is on the route to be used by Dictator Museveni! Effectively meaning that NUP is not allowed to campaign in all parishes of Kawempe North. They have said we can only meet in Komamboga where our candidate NALUKOOLA already campaigned. In order not to give them the excuse of beating, abducting or killing our people, we are going back to KOMAMBOGA grounds. Let's meet there at 2:00pm.

🚨 @Ganhri1, should downgrade Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) accreditation! 🚨
Uganda’s military—which has NO legal power of arrest—is spearheading abductions, illegal detentions & torture of opposition leaders & activists. 𝐔𝐇𝐑𝐂 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭!
🔴 Over 90% of human rights cases remain untouched for 5+ years.
🔴 Victims held beyond 48 hrs without family contact, lawyers, or court appearance—violating Article 23(4)(b) of Uganda’s Constitution.
🔴 Military courts still trying civilians despite a Supreme Court ruling banning this!
🔴 UHRC refuses to investigate mass abductions & election-related violence.
🔴 The Commission has been reluctant to intervene in the transnational repression of veteran opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
📢 Recent Cases of Abductions & Military Detention:
📌 Feb 17: Fred Nyanzi, National Unity Platform (NUP) leader abducted, tortured at CMI, dumped 4 days later.
📌 Feb 18: 4 NUP officials (Mercy Walukamba, Rahma Juma, Rovans Lwanyaga, Kayabula Eddie) abducted, blindfolded, beaten, & detained illegally.
📌 Feb 28: Lutalo Nicholas (NUP) abducted outside Nakawa, still missing.
📌 March 6: Bashabe Vianne (TikTok journalist) abducted from Hoima, transferred to an unknown location.
📌 March 5: Shakur Ssentongo abducted in Jinja, his whereabouts unknown.
📌 March 4: 21 NUP supporters brought to court severely tortured, bandaged, & bruised.
📌 March 4: Journalist Steven Mbidde attacked for reporting police brutality.
📌 March 3: Godfrey Onzima had his ankle broken by security forces while campaigning in Kawempe.
UHRC has ignored all these abuses! Their reports are vague, and their leadership, including Mariam Wangadya, has downplayed torture.
📢 Uganda is facing election-related violence again in 2026, with ZERO accountability for past abuses!
GANHRI must downgrade UHRC’s accreditation until it proves independence & effectiveness. Accountability matters! @UN_HRC@UNHumanRights@UNGeneva@volker_turk@UHRC_UGANDA@UN@IntlCrimCourt@klup
‼️ALARMING HEALTH DECLINE‼️
Yasin (Machete) is going to die in prison if we don't fight for him. He now weighs 49kg, down from 70kg, struggles to speak & is wheelchair-bound. Still, he refuses to end his hunger strike, protesting his unjust imprisonment.

#Uganda: Justice Esther Kisakye was forced into exile after her dissenting Supreme Court ruling on the rigged 2021 election!
Museveni’s witch-hunt continues—now appointing a tribunal to investigate her for simply upholding justice. This is pure retaliation & judicial harassment!
Uganda’s judiciary must be independent, not a tool of political persecution. The international community must condemn this blatant attack on rule of law!

Uganda's opposition @NUP_Ug at it again-
-Inciting violence by peacefully gathering,
-Undermining national security by holding a completely peaceful rally
-Provoking @PoliceUg by standing and singing together without fear
No wonder they have absolutely no local support.!!
You beat, torture, jail innocent people. What if you just quit?
"It does not make sense, of course, and that is why the best thing the NRM can do for Ugandans is to quit," @kazbuk writes. #MonitorUpdates https://t.co/mPW7sr2ZNr
