Some years ago, a young married woman in our Town was sexually harassed and intimidated by a lecturer. The harassment and sexual abuse didn't stop in his office, it continued on WhatsApp and even became physical.

She did everything a victim is always told to do, she kept screenshots, recorded his voice, saved videos, and gathered enough evidence to expose him.

With courage, she reported the matter to the school authorities and presented all the evidence, including the intimidation she was facing from him. But instead of protecting her, they protected their own. They reportedly took her phone and deleted all the evidence to shield their colleague from accountability.

Then came another blow. When the examination results were released, she discovered that she had failed the same lecturer's course. Convinced that she had answered the questions correctly, she went to his office to seek an explanation. Rather than listen to her, he humiliated her and threw her out of his office.

At that moment, she realised that the system had failed her. Feeling helpless, betrayed, and denied justice, she decided to set his office on fire.

What made the entire situation even more painful was that the school authorities took legal action against her and sent her to prison, even though she had a five-month-old baby.

I do not support jungle justice or taking the law into one's own hands. But cases like this sometimes need such jungle justice.
