music is a double edged sword.

sometimes you’ll get good energy listening to some kinds of music and at the same time they can be weaponized.

like, i’m seeing some crazy random stupid fake videos with ‘inspiring’ music which makes me almost believe in it but they are utter bull shit.

i think leaving the music out & focusing on the actual matter is the most basic thing to habituate when living in the content filled world.

if not, you’ll just build your opinions with the flowing air.

Three very different models of education:

1. Education consists of forcing students to cover state mandated curriculum.

2. Education consists of letting students do whatever they want.

3. Education consists of supporting young people to lead vibrant lives in which they have a sense of purpose, maintain healthy relationships, and can support themselves financially, all prerequisites of human flourishing.

Only the third is of interest to me.

i actually never had a habit of reading books all till graduation, even textbooks properly lol

but strangely one day during the covid times when i was staying home with my parents in 2020 & at a bland state, my friend harshit gave me big lecture on reading books

he didn’t tell me what books but lectured me on why & how to.

and even till today when i open a book at the same time & read same number of pages everyday, i recall that very convo soo much.

it’s one of the best things that could ever happen to me. very glad.

i just had an old vietnamese lady cut my hair & for the whole hour, it was basically a one way convo

she told me the story of how she escaped south vietnam on a boat with some chinese uncle during the riots 45 years ago, all the way to starting a new life in canada, having 4 kids & owning a boat

and at the end, she said ‘you’re a good guy’

damn, all i did was sit there and listen to her story using a few words like ‘ohh’ ‘wow’ ‘how’ ‘why’

sometimes all that people want is for someone to listen to their story. crazy!

codex standard speed is hella slow

we hear things like

‘ai can be a personal tutor’
‘ai can personalize learning for a kid’
‘ai can generate lesson plans instantly’
‘ai can give instant feedback’ and so on

all are fair, but it’ll be a crime if you just give a kid access to ai and expect them to be saints.

designing the learning environment is the job of adults and if you don’t create one, then you don’t have the right to blame the kid.

i think ai literacy is harder to define & standardize than traditional literacy.

like, to make the masses literate, there was a baseline standard, a clear minimum. more like, you follow x & you get y. (that’s what the modern education system did)

but for ai, we don’t really have a baseline standard for ai literacy

and i see people giving crazy complex & detailed prompts and also see people giving very simplistic prompts

for example, my friend uploads a picture which is in a different language and types a single word ‘english’ as the prompt and he gets what he wants

maybe we’re just soo soo early in the ai age.
