(1/2)...for anyone traveling into Reno today for Day 1 of #nvleg, good luck and God bless. Since I got home from work, only one airliner attempting landing has been successful amidst storm winds. All others have diverted after at least one failed attempt or without even trying.
For those following the #DavisFire, tankers were ordered about 10 minutes ago - sounds like six aircraft total. So the air force should be launching out of Stead shortly.
Air operations for the #DavisFire shutting down for the night. Busy afternoon as over a dozen aircraft hit it hard, direct attacks with water drops and expanding retardant lines.
@JenniferHomendy Ma'am - mad respect. You did the right thing by sharing this and were spot on in the way you addressed it. Any of us who have had to deal with the RR's in the halls of gov't knows this is indicative of their crass and arrogant behavior. Thank you - for all that you do. ππ
@dirich1955@repdinatitus@USDOTFRA That's correct, because nothing is being added. The current standard is a minimum of two persons. All this regulation does is restrict rr's from operating with one-man crews at the expense of safety.
@dirich1955@repdinatitus@USDOTFRA @dirrich1955 you are the one who accused the Congresswoman of raising prices by supporting this regulation, which will not happen. So again, I ask - can you point to any of the railroads' cost saving measures which have lowered shipping rates?
@dirich1955@repdinatitus@USDOTFRA@dirich1955 Of the numerous cost-savings measures the Class 1 carriers have implemented in the last 8 years which have tanked service and made the railroads non-competitive, can you point to one that has lowered rail shipping rates?
Bottom line: add to the long list of things which pose an unacceptable risk to public safety government officials who allow themselves to be led around by the nose by dishonest railroad companies.
Seriously, people. . .DON'T DO STUPID SHIT AROUND RAILROAD TRACKS, especially trying to cross them where there is no crossing. Fortunately there were no injuries or fatalities. . .this time.
(1/2) Blurry cell phone shot of the nice desert sunset this evening, deadheading onboard Amtrak Train 6. Wasn't planned that way, but after the train ahead of us blasted a Dodge pickup of the tracks we didn't have enough time under our hours of service to make it all the way.
(2/2) Then, when they ask in a puzzled state what the hell I'm talking about, I'll answer, "That's what the railroads keep saying about the Federal Railroad Safety Act." ππΉ

(1/2) Good morning! Hope you are all having a wonderful day.
Feeling cute today - might call all our Federal legislators and tell them, "Under the Commerce clause of the Constitution, you can't give states the authority to do this!"
