BEAUTIFUL sea of New York tenants are taking over the Capitol building!
We need Albany to act NOW and pass #GoodCause.
This is a crisis of historic proportions, and lawmakers must create protections against unjust evictions and massive rent hikes!
📈Evictions are surging. New York tenants are facing a crisis of historic proportions. Get on the bus! https://t.co/R23VRDtskI
Albany must pass #GoodCause NOW. It's what NY needs to grant every tenant protections against unjust evictions and unreasonable rent hikes
✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻
The data proves it: #GoodCause - as it's been on the books for 50 years in NJ - did not have a negative impact on housing construction.
“In fact, the two are mutually reinforcing."
It's time for New York to pass Good Cause!

The City & State/Honan Strategy Group survey showed that 69% of respondents support the Good Cause eviction bill.
Nice. Check out the polling results:

@MaherJohn@Marble_Milkweed@mollycrabapple@IbzNorth The holding in Aurora seems to say that Loft Law units that were exempted from rent stabilization *because the prior tenant sold those rights* are... still exempt from rent stabilization. Which is a far cry from "all loft units are now exempt from rent stabilization."
Here’s the temp on the day that 475 Kent Owners illegally and with impunity shut off all power and light to the residents of our building despite our legal challenge pointing out the threat to residents’ well-being @NYCDDC@NYC_Buildings@NYCMayor@NYCMayorsOffice@nyclt
Loft tenants deserve to be protected and have recourse when their landlord fails to make urgent repairs or provide essential services.
Thanks to Governor Hochul for supporting and signing our bill to give loft tenants access to housing court.
NEW: I'm introducing legislation w/ @BrianKavanaghNY to enact a statewide moratorium on evictions and foreclosures during the #coronaviruspandemic and future emergency declarations.
No one should ever be put at risk & forced to look for shelter during a public health emergency.
We just sent this letter signed by 24+ NY State Senators urging the courts to issue a moratorium on evictions immediately.
This is a crucial step to protect vulnerable New Yorkers from choosing between protecting their health & defending their homes during this state of emergency
