It's quite easy: children are getting diagnosed with autism because there's money to be made for the medical staff in charge of "managing" the "autism."

As a result, the autism label gets put on all sorts of retarded kids who don't truly have autism but can be made to fit the criteria so that "diagnosis" and "treatment" charges can be added to the bill.

DOGE the diagnostic money flows down and we'll be back to normal rates. Very rarely does a child benefit from being diagnosed with autism.
