March 7 planted beans have been flowering and setting pods for 43 days and are still going. June 7 planted beans are just starting to flower. Any questions on why early beans have better yield potential?
Crazy to see the increase in active node count in just 21 days. When you have the correct combo of roots + stalk diameter + laterals the plant amazes me on what it can do in such a small amount of time. 🧨💥
Default answer for a lot of people is this is dicamba, not everything is what it seems. Notice the drawstring being pulled down the center of the leaf.
This going to be an interesting yr when in comes in IA crops. We hear a lot about how good IA dirt is but given the lack of precip over the last 365 days do timely rains pull more weight? IMO, they do. Jul big month for pollination & they're historically pretty dry.

From the "it could be worse" files, let's take a look at "The Nearly Forgotten Snow Storm" of May 27-29, 1947.
This storm brought heavy snow and record cold to the region to end the month of May!
Soybeans r much more sensitive to soil pH & can't tolerate lower soil pH like corn. Check soil tests & the SOIL pH levels in fields going 2 soybeans. With the spring thaw lime can still be applied to add bushels in 2021. Want SOIL pH above 6.4. NE IA soil sample study below.
When striving 4 80+ bu/ac beans, uniform emergence is as important in soybeans as corn.
2019 Emergence Study showed beans that emerged in 1st 3 days had 46 pods/plant & 27 3 bean pods. Beans emerging after that only 37 pods/plant & 19 3 bean pods.

December planted beans in Wisconsin! 3.0 acres in. 140k and 200k pops, 3 planting depths 2.25, 2.50 and 3.0 inches. Conditions were great. It’s up to Mother Nature now. #plant20.5?
And we’re off! I know planting soybeans in November will never be a thing, but I think we can learn something about what seeds are able to handle. I’m a little uncertain though: Is this #plant20 or #plant21?
Phantom yield loss study 2020
October 9th harvest 22.7 moisture 265 bushels per acres
November 14th harvest 16.7 moisture 249 bushels per acre. Thanks @FarmsWimp and French Bros for the help. Phantom yield loss is plausible.
Empty trailer at Elmwood #ontag
Calves unloaded from Western 🇨🇦

I keep hearing about overcrowding and not enough straw in the trailers
It’s making it bad for the people who do it right
