@luruke@active_theory I would have loved this in 2014. I remember being in FFMPEG hell, trying to find the perfect balance of settings, whilst keeping things performant for an interactive lookbook app. ๐ great stuff mate
@LinusEkenstam@gedawei I think @gedawei is saying, will apps be the primary unit of software in the future? Itโs likely in the above scenario we are leaning toward ambient, composable capabilities that surface when needed across all devices, spaces and contexts etc Reminds me of ambient intelligence
Itโs 3AM and I just recreated @Apple Liquid Metal right in the browser. No JavaScript. No WebGL. Just raw HTML + CSS.
Let me know if you want the code
@michalmalewicz Unlike the Henry Ford quote (thatโs often miss-used), Apple isnโt asking users what they want.
Theyโre likely making a long-term bet on a new class of devices that focuses on blending UI with mixed reality experiences.
This isnโt reactive, itโs directional.
It feels like Apple realised that to achieve that level of refraction (like what you see in the lower-left-most button) the shape practically needs to be a sphere. Push the refraction too far and you risk the elements looking like detached floating 3D objects instead of surface materials.
@hobdaydesign Over the years I noticed a trend of high impact and visually appealing websites, selling apps that were clearly lacking in design standards. The shiny door to get you in. However things have improved in recent times.
@hobdaydesign Google design principles at work here. Good to see someone acknowledge it. You can also use plus darker in Figma for certain applications like buttons.
