In 2019, Berkeley, CA passed an ordinance that banned natural gas pipes "extending from the point of delivery at the gas meter" in new buildings.

Opponents argued that the federal law setting appliance efficiency standards preempts the city's rules. The 9th Circuit agreed.

We ended w/a discussion about the possibility for settler-colonial governments to engage in postcolonial apologies by working with indigenous communities to develop a legal personhood framework for those natural resources from which they were separated via violence & coercion.
