The people who are screwing you don't arrive in boats, they arrive in limousines and wear suits and have prefixes in front of their names like "Sir" and "Lord" and "the Right Honourable. "
.....being wasteful. Recent examples: millions pissed away on PPE contracts with suppliers who could not fulfill orders; the ridiculous cost of a nuclear deterrent we.will never use; the exorbitant cost of the House of Lords and the monarchy.
We do not have to choose between helping refugees or helping UK citizens (including ex-service personnel) who are in need. There is enough money to do both. What is missing is the political will. What we need to do is pressure the government to stop....
Imagine being so desperate to reach a new destination that you pay thousands to be crammed onto a shitty boat that is barely seaworthy. And you put your kids at the same risk because it's a better option than staying put.
Refugees are not coming here to steal jobs. Many of them leave good jobs in their home countries because they are in fear for their lives. Opposing their governments is often their only "crime", something we can do in the UK without fear.
Refugees are human beings. They are not leaving their home countries for the fun of it, they are fleeing for their lives. They do not see the UK as a place to get rich, they see the UK as a place where their children have a chance of survival.
A few years ago we got together and made some music in support of refugees. Whilst we might not be in a position just yet to repeat the exercise, some things still need saying:
Putting @The_Honey_G through instead of people who can actually sing? When is UK going to wake up to the farce that is @TheXFactor ?? https://t.co/ODTFo5SdMX
