Respected Shri Parvesh Verma Ji, urgent intervention is needed. It has been 4 years since residents shifted to Asha Kiran Apartment, Govindpuri, Kalkaji under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), yet our society has still not been provided regular Delhi Jal Board corporation water supply.
All required formalities, documents, infrastructure compliance, and payments from the DDA side have already been completed. Despite this, Delhi Jal Board officials continue delaying the matter with repeated excuses, often saying they “do not have water available for this society.” This has created a massive humanitarian crisis for 3024 families, especially poor residents, women, children, and senior citizens who are suffering daily due to water scarcity during extreme Delhi heat.
Residents respectfully ask: if all formalities are complete, why has water supply still been stopped for 4 years? Why are concerned officials avoiding accountability and proper communication? We humbly request strict action against the concerned JE & AE officers of Delhi Jal Board and an immediate inquiry into why water supply to a PMAY housing society has still not started.
Please save the dignity of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and ensure immediate regular water supply to our society. We urgently seek justice and relief.

To,
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi
Subject: Request for Immediate Intervention Regarding Severe Drinking Water Shortage at Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri, New Delhi
Respected Sir,
I, Geeta Das, President of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri, New Delhi, wish to bring to your kind attention a matter of urgent public concern affecting thousands of residents.
Asha Kiran Housing Project (PMAY/EWS) is home to approximately 3,024 families, with an estimated population of 16,000–20,000 residents. Despite such a large population, Delhi Jal Board is currently supplying drinking water for only about one hour per day. This duration is insufficient even to fully fill the society’s Underground Reservoir (UGR), resulting in an acute shortage of potable water.
As a consequence, residents are compelled to depend on borewell water for their daily needs. However, the borewell water available in the society is saline and unsuitable for drinking purposes. This situation poses serious concerns regarding public health, hygiene, and the fundamental right of residents to access safe drinking water.
Furthermore, residents have not been informed about the actual quantity of water being supplied to the society on a daily basis (in MLD or litres), nor whether the current supply is adequate for a population of 16,000–20,000 people. If official records indicate that water supply is sufficient, an independent verification of the ground reality is urgently required.
In view of the above, I humbly request your esteemed office to:
1. Order a high-level inquiry into the drinking water supply situation at Asha Kiran Housing Project.
2. Direct Delhi Jal Board to disclose the actual quantity of water supplied daily and the duration of supply.
3. Ensure that drinking water supply is increased to at least 3–4 hours per day, in accordance with the actual needs of the residents.
4. Conduct water quality testing of both DJB-supplied water and borewell water.
5. Investigate any discrepancies between official reports and the actual situation on the ground.
6. Take appropriate administrative and legal action against any officials found responsible for submitting misleading or inaccurate reports.
7. Issue immediate directions to ensure adequate and regular supply of safe drinking water to all residents.
This issue directly affects the health, welfare, and dignity of thousands of families, many of whom belong to economically weaker sections. We therefore seek your urgent intervention and necessary action in the larger public interest.
Thanking you.
Yours faithfully,
Geeta Das
President, RWA

Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri (PMAY/EWS) is home to nearly 16,000–20,000 residents (3,024 families). However, DJB supplies drinking water for only about 1 hour daily, which is insufficient even to fill the UGR.
Residents are forced to depend on borewell water, which is saline and not suitable for drinking. Access to safe drinking water is a basic necessity and a fundamental public service.
We urgently request DJB to increase the drinking water supply duration to at least 3–4 hours daily, disclose the quantity of water being supplied, and conduct a technical assessment based on the actual population and demand of the society.
Kindly take immediate action to ensure adequate drinking water for thousands of residents.

Respected @DelhiJalBoard,
Approximately 3,024 families reside in Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri (PMAY/EWS). At present, DJB is supplying drinking water for only about 1 hour per day, which is insufficient even to fully fill our Underground Reservoir (UGR). As a result, residents are compelled to depend on borewell water, which is not a sustainable long-term solution.
Considering the needs of 3,024 families, the duration of water supply should be increased to at least 3–4 hours daily. We also request that the quantity of water being supplied each day (in MLD/litres) be disclosed publicly. Kindly conduct an immediate technical assessment of the area and take necessary steps to enhance water supply in accordance with the actual demand, ensuring adequate and regular drinking water for all residents.

Despite Delhi Jal Board's claim that water supply is normal, the reality at Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri (PMAY/EWS) is very different.
Around 3,024 families live in this housing project, but DJB supplies drinking water for only about 1 hour a day. This short duration is not enough even to fill our Underground Reservoir (UGR), forcing residents to depend on borewell water for daily needs.
We request Delhi Jal Board to urgently conduct a technical assessment, disclose the actual quantity of water being supplied, and increase the drinking water supply duration to at least 3–4 hours daily so that the needs of all residents can be met.
Kindly take immediate action in the interest of thousands of families.

We appreciate the MCD officials and sanitation workers for carrying out the cleaning drive at Asha Kiran Apartment, Pocket A-14, Govindpuri, Kalkaji, following our public complaint.
However, an important question remains: Should citizens have to raise complaints and post on social media every time to get basic civic services delivered? Will public authorities consistently remember and fulfill their responsibilities without repeated reminders?
Cleanliness and public health are not occasional activities—they are ongoing administrative responsibilities. We expect regular waste collection, sanitation, and maintenance services to be carried out proactively, without residents having to repeatedly escalate issues.
Thank you for the action taken today. We hope this becomes a regular practice and not a response only after public complaints.

Delhi Jal Board officials assured residents of Asha Kiran Apartment (PMAY), Govindpuri that water supply would be provided for 1.5 hours daily, and if that was still insufficient for such a large community, the duration would be increased further.
However, the reality is completely different. Not even the promised 1.5 hours is being supplied. Residents are receiving barely 1 hour of water, and the commitment to increase supply has never been honored. Thousands of families are struggling because one hour of water supply is simply not enough to meet basic daily needs.
If official assurances are not being fulfilled, how can residents trust the system? We request immediate intervention to ensure adequate water supply and an inquiry into the gap between commitments and actual delivery.

Respected Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi,
The residents of Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri (PMAY), comprising nearly 18,000–20,000 people, have been facing a severe water crisis for years.
On 1st June, residents were compelled to stage a massive protest after repeated complaints failed to bring any lasting solution. Only after the protest received wide media coverage did Delhi Jal Board supply water for about one hour during the night, and again for a limited period the following day.
The Action Taken Report submitted by Delhi Jal Board claims that there is no water shortage and that the situation is normal. However, the ground reality is entirely different. Supplying water for only one hour to such a large population cannot be considered an adequate or sustainable solution. If there was truly no water crisis, why was water supplied only after public protests and media attention?
We respectfully request your intervention and seek an independent inquiry into this matter, including a review of the conduct and accountability of the concerned officials. We also request that the actual water requirement of the society be assessed and that regular, sufficient, and uninterrupted water supply be ensured for all residents.
The residents have photographs, videos, and other evidence demonstrating the true situation on the ground. We sincerely hope that justice will be done and that the fundamental right to water will be protected for thousands of families living under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
We seek transparency, accountability, and a permanent solution—not temporary relief after public protests.

Delhi Jal Board's Action Taken Report does not reflect the ground reality at Asha Kiran Housing Project, Pocket-14, Govindpuri. After a massive public protest on 1st June, water was supplied for only about one hour on 1st and 2nd June. A society of nearly 18,000–20,000 residents cannot meet its daily needs with just one hour of water supply.
If there was truly no water crisis, why did water arrive only after residents came out on the streets and the issue was highlighted by major news channels? For years, residents have struggled, and repeated representations received little response.
We request an independent inquiry by LG Office, Vigilance, and concerned authorities into the conduct of officials and the reasons behind the prolonged shortage. The demand is simple: adequate and regular water supply for all residents, not temporary arrangements after protests.

Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor Sir,
Residents of Asha Kiran Apartment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have been facing a severe water crisis for years. It is deeply concerning that only after a public protest outside the Delhi Jal Board office did our society receive water supply, and that too for barely one hour.
This raises a serious question: must citizens be forced to protest every time they seek a basic necessity like water? If water was unavailable, how was supply restored immediately after the demonstration?
We respectfully request your intervention to ensure a fair inquiry into this matter, fix accountability of the concerned officials, and guarantee regular water supply to thousands of PMAY residents who deserve dignity and basic civic services.
We trust that your timely action will bring relief to the affected families.

This raises a serious question: Why do officials act only under pressure?
For 4 years, residents of PMAY housing have been told that there is "no water in the area." But we have lived here long enough to know that water is available. The real issue is administrative failure, lack of accountability, and alleged favoritism in water distribution.
If our protest had not happened, would anyone have listened? Citizens should not have to come to the streets for their basic right to water.
