BREAKING: In Ambassador Chifamba’s farewell speech to @RamsarConv Standing Committee (which he has been is chairing while Zimbabwe holds the Presidency) he made two very important remarks that underscore Zimbabwe’s commitment to protecting wetlands.
He said that in his new role as Permanent Secretary for Industry and Commerce he will be pushing “green industrialization that is WETLANDS FRIENDLY” 🌿 and that “Zimbabwe will have DOUBLED the number of Ramsar Sites” by COP16 in July 2028! 👏🎉🍾🌅
This is very encouraging. Now it’s time for action! 🤝

@RangaNaiti well cheap is expensive! In Zimbabwe you can pay 6000 Rands and you get your passport within 48 hours. In Lesotho you might get that passport in 6 months!
@AlexanderRusero@airzimbabweUM Letx be fair Mukoma. This is called manual check-in, and it’s a normal procedure worldwide when systems go down. Yes, it’s unfortunate they didn’t have branded blank manual tickets on hand, but the workaround was still valid. Many airlines have done the same in similar situations
SITUATING AMERICAN BILL: Zimbabweans, this is a major development for our country. Really big if it comes through, as looks likely. It is not easy to get America to rescind a law with bi-partisan support. Both the Republicans and Democrats supported ZDERA, making it a consensual American law against Zimbabwe. It has been with us - a huge albatross since 2001 - augmented by similar laws in Europe and its vicarious applications in various jurisdictions which genuflected to punitive American Sanctions in practice. JOE BIDEN initiated moves to end this odious, spiteful law by not renewing THE EXECUTIVE ORDER which successive American presidents since 2001 renewed as a matter of reflexive anti-Zimbabwean ritual. That included the current President during his first tenure. Trump, it would appear, has decided to finish off what Biden began, making the rescinding of the law as bi-partisan as its beginning. Zimbabwe worked hard, persistently pressing against this law, both at governmental and non-governmental levels. Above, at the level of regional, continental and intercontinental levels. SADC went as far as designating October 25 a SADC DAY AGAINST SANCTIONS ON ZIMBABWE. Today, less than a month shy of the ANTI-SANCTIONS MONTH, and a few years after TANZANIA UNDER LATE PRESIDENT MAGUFULI (MHDSRIEP) sponsored this resolution binding SADC to agitate against ZDERA, the Americans have started moving towards that end. If you consider that US sanctions against CUBA have subsisted for over half a century, and that the designation of NELSON MANDELA as a terrorist lived on well into his Presidency, this development FOR ZIMBABWE can hardly be minimized. Even greater is the fact that we have emerged from it, yes scarred and bruised bodily, but intact in terms of our ideals and trajectory!! Read that against Gaddafi’s Libya, and you get what I mean. Of course we still chafe that our President is still on sanctions, meaning the foremost face of the Zimbabwean State is still constrained, but this development presages many possibilities ahead. While NOT YET UHURU, we hear the sounds of breaking shackles a short distance away. I write like one who had the dubious honour of being among the FIRST GROUP TO BE PUT UNDER ZIDERA and among the penultimate group to be removed from the same. Well done President ED Mnangagwa; your Policy on ENGAGEMENT AND RE-ENGAGEMENT HAS DELIVERED ITS ULTIMATE FRUIT! Well, not quite yet, but arguably just about to!!! #EDWORKS!!!!!
Absolutely agree! musicians like Taylor Swift have massive platforms to educate fans on climate issues. Sharing the real impact of choices like private jets while actively adjusting their own lifestyles shows authenticity. Without tangible change, it’s just greenwashing. #ClimateAction
I genuinely feel sad for South Africa.
If you have a conversation with average young people in South Africa, the shallowness of it all will leave you gobsmacked. Zero depth.
I fear for them if Trump & Elon go ahead and turn the screws on that country like Bush, Obama Trump & Biden did on Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe survived and has grown several times under those conditions. South Africa may not manage.
A new review of my book. Reviewer believes it's still possible to imagine alternatives to capitalism. Given the state of world affairs, do you see motivation to do it? And most importantly is there time when an alternative has not even been articulated? https://t.co/7uuU0oVmL2
Wetlands are not just natural resources—they are foundational to our shared future. Let’s come together to protect them, ensuring their benefits for generations to come.
His Excellency, Dr @edmnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

I have just ridden down to the Umzingwane river from Bulawayo to inspect its flow. Sadly as this video shows there is only a trickle. Our dam watch report released by the @CityofBulawayo yesterday shows that our dams, despite the good rains, are still only sitting at 37% full.
This is the British Foreign Minister, David Lammy, rallying international support to address the Sudan crisis.
He describes it as worse than Gaza, calling it the worst humanitarian crisis on earth.
Where are the African leaders? The last time, they flew private jets to Europe to try to stop a war more than 5,000 miles away, yet they remain silent about a crisis right on their doorstep!
The absence of African leaders from the international conversation on Sudan is disheartening.
There are a lot of things to learn from Russia… But travelling all the way to learn about designing Mbare Musika says a lot about the quality of people in govt… The money they spend travelling could have been used for better things
On behalf of my family, the Government, and myself, I wish Merry Christmas wishes to all Zimbabweans, at home and abroad. May this season bring joy, peace, and unity, and may 2025 be a year of renewed hope and prosperity for our beloved Zimbabwe.

It’s rare to fly an active 737-200 these days so I traveled all the way to Zimbabwe to take a trip on a plane that revolutionised air travel. Here is the full video.
