Quick summary / update on my "flooded" Model Y situation. (VIN: XP7 - 031XXX / 10/22 / GF4)

Yesterday I noticed that some cardboard boxes I had in the rear footwell were completely soaked. I then realised that the carpet floor mats were soaking wet, so I took them out to dry. Upon further inspection I discovered that the entire carpet flooring of the rear seat footwell was wet. So I removed the rear seat bench and loosened the clips holding the floor in place.

When I lifted the carpet flooring up, I couldn't believe my eyes. The entire foam underneath the rear seat flooring was soaked with water. I guess at least 60-70oz of water sitting in the foam under the carpet.

I did some research and found out that this is because of a part error on Made-in-Germany Model Ys from GigaBerlin. An intake of the HEPA-Filter (that is normally one single part in Shanghai) was split into two on the Berlin models. The seam holding the two pieces together can be leaky on some cars, just like mine. The water enters the interior through the firewall and slowly makes its way into the foam. When parked slightly uphill, the water collects in the rear footwell.

Because of the huge amounts of liquid, I wanted to check other sources of failure too. I took out my frunk and some foam in the drivers seat footwell. The water also enters through the vehicles frame rails and then creeps into the footwells of the front seats as well, where I could also find wet spots.

Even though this is a common part issue on many MiG Model Ys from that production time, Tesla does not cover any repair costs once the vehicle is out of the basic warranty.

I'm actually frustrated. I've been a huge fan since 2015 and this Model Y is the fifth Tesla in my family. My room is filled with collectibles and merchandise. I love this company but I feel like a fool right now.

So to everyone with a Model Y from GigaBerlin from a similar production time that is still in basic warranty: Check your carpet foam.

I hope this will save some people their money. As of right now, it looks like my car will be gone for a few weeks and I'll have to pay 1.5k-2k minimum to get this fixed.

@Tesla / @Teslaeurope This should not have to be covered by the customer, no matter the mileage. It is a fatal construction error or fault in the production.

Dramatic videos from media and social media of a suspect wanted in a shooting of a Sheriff’s Deputy having a horrific crash on the 210fwy earlier today.
