On Judgement Call with @ohalljournalist, we asked Antonio Reynoso if he thinks it’s fair to describe his NY-7 primary as the old Brooklyn machine vs the new DSA wave.
“Only if you got here like five years ago.”
On Judgement Call, @ohalljournalist, asked @ReynosoBrooklyn how NYPD should interact with ICE.
“They can do crowd control and making sure people are safe and no one’s getting hurt. They don’t need to open doors so that they can get the detainee out.”
Reynoso is all but saying publicly what has been widely understood but never quite said aloud: Nydia Velázquez wanted Julia Salazar or Tiffany Cabán to succeed her, seeing them as compromise candidates who were part of both her movement and NYC-DSA (the mayor's political home).
Really enjoyed this chat with Antonio Reynoso. He was much harsher on the mayor than I’ve heard him be in the past and called for “leadership” on several issues.
On Claire Valdez? He was happy to call out her “lack of experience”.

Just finished recording the first episode with my intrepid co-host @Oliver_hall1
We spoke with @ReynosoBrooklyn about his Democratic primary in NY-7, his opinions on the Mayor, and his thoughts on the term “Commie Corridor.”
Will be out next week…
Timmy's question spurred a mini news cycle that helped reveal a bit more about the mayor's worldview. Also, seemingly off-the-wall questions like these are a great way of getting highly scripted pols off book, especially in the "on topic only" PR age https://t.co/HOIxcW26XM
