@turtlekiosk People seek instrinsic fulfillment and accomplishment, and games offer a low-risk pathway to feel like youve accomplished something with little of the real world risk. (achievements and leveling, social interactions and progression through rpgs)
@christinegre99 yup, the objective function of capitalism is to max out growth/return, so other values get ditched. But to hit max impact, disengaging from capitalism completely doesn't scale; public benefit corps are a step towards enforceable frameworks for other values, but prob aren't enough
Ideally all tools/systems could be designed to embody the values and ideals of the future we want to live in (accessibility, openness, equity, privacy, etc). However most of the time, it seems like the societal effects are accidental.
How can it be more intentional?
