but it's: this isn't that company, it's better. This company is empathetic and caring, aims to bring the best out of us. It's kind of stunning to work at a place whose mission revolves around helping people achieve their creative and collaborative potential. 3/3
Google was 6yrs old when I joined (and knew nothing). I'm 6 months in @figmadesign, another beloved company, but like @skuwamoto, I now have the life experience to value the rarity of having such intimidatingly inspiring, creative, and empathetic coworkers. It's surreal.
Six years ago I met some folks who were working on a secret project to change how people did design.
It sounded like fun so I joined @figmadesign knowing that the odds were slim.
So when we hit milestones like this, I kind of pinch myself.

Vivid memory from 2007 of a close coworker going to a small company that is now a household name. They made an impassioned post about how "this is that company" (i.e. the world changing kind) and we all giggled at the cheesiness. Now that phrase keeps going through my head... 2/3
@__apf__@jewree@bgalbs The red ones are a bit surreal. At first they feel like they are just red-tinted shades, but then you notice that all blue/green emitting devices (e.g. tv, router, microwave clock) look like they are legit off. The first time I wore them, I thought the power had gone out.
@__apf__@jewree@bgalbs I've gone overboard and have two tiers of blue light blocking glasses. https://t.co/nW1N5mB97E for the early part of the evening where I still want to do things, and the read one I linked above for the tail end of the evening where I'm just reading before bed.
@aboodman Believe it or not, we kept iterating on this for years after that initial prototyping. Folks who haven't built web APIs wouldn't believe the amount of design and standards work this set of APIs took. Can't claim credit for it shipping since I no longer work on Chrome though.
@dpup@benwerd@tessamac 3. "No Zero Days" for meeting a minimum bar each day from https://t.co/35zhl0sM5J, although I prefer this much more digestible, less energetic summary: https://t.co/XoA6DonfCN [4/4]
@dpup@benwerd@tessamac 2. Triggers https://t.co/DPPk4dzfqP
- Aspirational "Did I do my best to" daily questions
- Peer coaching: someone you share the answers to the questions with each day gives accountability to keep up with it and provides feedback, e.g. noticing trends. [3/n]
Today, we're officially announcing that any humanitarian non-political project using Airtable to help support COVID-19 response efforts can get 3 months of Airtable Pro for free by filling out this form: https://t.co/pGLcxowbzl
@christinawyvern I just discovered Amazing Marvin. Enamored with the posts at https://t.co/jOONgWbkIb. Have tried many task management apps and even built one. I think of myself as a productivity nerd, but I learned a lot from these posts! Excited to try these ideas this week.
I got an #OOLER last week (the half-queen) and I've been surprised. Don't need AC anymore, sleep is more comfortable, and I am warm and cozy when going to bed and waking up. For someone with health problems exacerbated by temperature during sleep, this is actually life-changing.
@ChiliSleep I'd be fine with it being much less powerful and for the mattress pad to be shorter (fine to not go under pillow). Also great would be a sheet so I could just put it on top of the hotel sheets. I would 100% buy this product.
I've also been impressed with the rigor level that went into producing FCP and LCP. I'm really happy to see us getting some standard loading metrics that map directly to the user visible stages of page load.
Over and over we see that loading UX is important to site business metrics like abandonment rate. This is why we've invested multiple engineer-years augmenting FCP with a few additional carefully designed and studied loading metrics like LCP below.
