@Mr_Andrew_Fox@DPAutomation Well I’m Irish so we don’t really have much choice there at the moment, they’re all awful… and believe me, I far prefer living under the leadership here than I ever did in Ireland or the UK. I‘ve seen way more actual leadership from the rulers of the UAE than I ever did at home.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox@DPAutomation And I’m quite happy to not have anyone preach to me thanks. But if I suddenly rediscover my catholic roots there are plenty of churches I can go to. And if I want to visit a mosque, a synagogue and a church, I can find them all in one place in Abu Dhabi…
@Mr_Andrew_Fox@DPAutomation Andrew, I’ve been a follower for a while and generally have a lot of time for your opinions, but on the UAE, you’re completely wrong. I’ve lived here for 8 years and I can safely state it’s the safest and most tolerant place I’ve lived in my 54 years.
@Glinner The support is well deserved and he was right about bravery. It’s amazing how often the comedians and comedy writers of this world are the last bastion of sanity.
@CormacLaffan Fully agree! As an Irishman resident in the UAE, I’ve been far more impressed by ABZ and his approach to foreign affairs than by anything I’ve seen come out of Ireland…
@Glinner@StephenKing Please don’t! I’m fully convinced that blocking is part of the problem, rather than the solution. If we block anything we think is offensive or wrong we end up in an echo chamber. BTW, he’s already apologised twice that I’ve seen.
@abrahamson_ed@gidonsaar While I agree with everything you said Ed, I do feel see this as going from the frying pan to the fire… Best of luck @DanaErlich in the new role!
@lukeming We have always disgracefully underfunded our armed services and even our Gardai. This doesn't have to be an either/or situation, perhaps instead of denying funding to support our armed services, spend some time looking at how we could support both?
