As the Nigerian Bar Association's Presidential election approaches, I have made my position clear: the NBA does not have an idea problem. It has an implementation problem.
The issue with the NBA has never been a lack of ideas but a lack of will to implement them. I offer that will and, unlike most candidates, I can point to what I have already delivered when given a mandate.
As Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch from 2019 to 2021, I convened the Remuneration Committee whose recommendations were adopted nationally and became the 2023 Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order, now subsidiary legislation under the Legal Practitioners Act. My administration also raised approximately ₦15 million in COVID-19 welfare palliatives for members, secured a health insurance partnership with Hygeia for branch members, and covered 50 per cent of CIArb certification fees for 100 lawyers.
My manifesto, ‘Elevate the Bar: A Modern NBA That Works for Every Lawyer’, is built on practical, implementable reforms. It proposes NBA One, a unified digital platform that brings every fragmented NBA service together, and an e-Remuneration Platform to make the existing Remuneration Order enforceable in the daily workflow of every practising lawyer.
This election is about more than promises. It is about proven capacity, credible leadership, and the will to deliver.

Lol.
I dislike dishonest intelligence.
For a minute let's forget this is his personal opinion.
The real question is, can we deduce reality from his statements? YES!
Because he's the one saying now makes him one of the 'average Nigerians'?
NO!
Zlatan Ibrahimovic once said something that has stayed with me. He recalled going through David Beckham’s playlist one day and chuckling at the songs he found there. Beckham, noticing the grin on his face, asked what was so funny. Zlatan, in his usual braggadocious fashion, smiled and said something to the effect of, “It’s beautiful to see that despite your good looks and all the places where people think you’re almost superhuman, there is still somewhere you fail miserably.”
My mind went back to that story because I believe the same thing is happening here with Jim. Despite all his articulateness, despite the poise with which he carries himself, despite the breadth of his exposure, his thinking is, unfortunately, no better than that of the average Nigerian.

I know this because I was just there a year ago.
Meanwhile outside that hall is a different empty reality like nothing is happening. 😂
What a two-facet world.
We actually do live life in lenses.
People getting called to the Bar today will be feeling all on top of the world. Breathing in different air, marking great moment in their lives...
I am still a toddler at the Nigerian Bar, so I would not claim to understand much about its politics.
However, in my short time at the Bar, one thing has stood out to me. At virtually every NBA event in Ilorin, I have consistently seen Mr. Lateef Omoyeni Akangbe, SAN present...
@dieworkwear They do.
What happens most often is that they become abnormal, careless and unintelligent the moment they start seeking political power. Because that's what politics and power does, corrupt the pious.
@arojinle1 One thing that has always confused me and which I probably also need lecturers on is the fact that these snakes swallow preys only to end up regurgitating them back. So there's nothing like proper digestion. Or am I missing something.
If you consider a Man too poor to be worthy of your love.
And another man considers you too old to be deserving of love.
I do not see the problem. It is all about preferences.
Your right to always date the financially competent is parallel to his right to always date the biologically advantaged. I do not see the reason for the protest.
In any case, that is one man's opinion, one he has a right to. There are many men who will disagree - Go to them.
And while you are at it, kindly extend to struggling men the same grace you expect others to extend to you. Do not judge every man by the temporary emptiness of his pocket, just as you do not wish every woman to be judged by the calendar.
Good Evening Severally...
I’ve never seen anyone tell a man to endure a bad wife, as soon he has a bad wife or he start complaining about his wife, the first thing he’s asked to do is “leave that woman and marry another woman”, nobody is asking him to pray or fast for his wife or be patient with his wife but when a woman marries a bad Husband everyone is suddenly telling her to pray, the church tells her to endure and fast and give him time to change.
They’re telling her she’s a mother and men are big babies so she need to treat him as one, she should nurture a grown man,it’s the reason why they associate endurance, patience and long suffering with the female gender
Why’s endurance meant for women and men are told to love themselves and never tolerate any forms of disrespect from a woman?, if you like endure rubbish from a man, he wouldn’t tolerate the same from you.
@HNIC8@mamatii001 Then in this case it would make sense to ask.
I just needed to point that out. Cuz even someone born in 2000 is now a full blown adult and can share the online space with any ancestors so to say 😂
As long as everybody respect themselves accordingly.
@Johnsonamaechi@NajeebAdamu1@yettydlaw_ Johnson Esq: Lawyers aren't the smartest people. I'm confused whether to agree with you or not because you have only made a statement reflective of yourself.
