@psobolewskiPhD Thx for your comment.
MW energy is 350W. We performed the experiment in a domestic MW oven so controlling the temp and pressure was quite challenging, however, the short reaction time was really helpful in that context.
The experiments were performed in semi sealed containers.

@green_rsc Thank you so much for your comment.
Next steps will be:
1. upscaling of the process as we are working on a max of 5 gm so we want to reach 0.5 KG.
2. Improve the purity and properties of produced TPA
3. repolymerize TPA into virgin PET and evaluate the polymer's properties
@ChopraSwamini The properties of the produced TPA from the depolymerization process is comparable to the commercially available TPA. We are currently working on setting the protocol for repolymerization. Would be great if we can discuss it further.
Plz email me on: [email protected]
@ChopraSwamini TPA will have several applications;
1. repolymerized into high quality virgin PET
2. used as a feedstock for bacteria for production of biodegradable biopolymers such as bacterial cellulose and polyhydroxy butyrate (PHB).
3. used in production of resins and bio-adhesives
@FelipeMBolner Thank you so much for your comment. The reaction process proposed in this study is applicable to all kind of polyesters plastics. Nevertheless, Microwave processing can be applied to polyolfins as well, yet we need to use different reactions to be able to break the bonds.
@RSC_Sus Thank you so much for your comment. We have already secured a larger MW on which we will scale up the process to reach 0.5 KG treatments and we are trying to secure industrial collaborations for continuous MW processing to reach pilot scale.
