I like this article because it stresses the importance of kids getting out into nature and gardening more. This is a great way to start getting kids more involved in their diet by planting some of their own fruits and veggies! @beh353#beh353
I agree Luz!! This was something I hadn’t thought of before this class, but it’s definitely important to have a good relationship with the nutritionists we end up working with! @beh353#beh353
I will incorporate nutrition as a future healthcare professional by keeping in mind that there are nutritionists out there to help my patients and keeping a good relationship is key! Also, emphasizing that being healthy is all about balance/feeling good!😀@beh353#beh353
I plan on incorporating nutrition as a future healthcare professional by always educating my patients on the importance of their diet, what they can do to improve their diet, and how it is relevant to whatever issue they came in with. @beh353#beh353
I agree Saribel! I also found this very interesting because I only drink almond milk, and never thought about it not really being milk. Definitely an eye opening fact! @beh353#beh353
I like the chart that @EmmaDArpinoRD showed us about milk. It's important to understand that almond milk, oat milk, etc are not comparable to cow milk. This was really eye-opening because I am someone who drinks oat milk on a daily and this helped me understand! @beh353#beh353
I think this article is great for people who either already are or are thinking of becoming vegetarian. People have the misconception that vegetarian meals are boring or bland, but this shows that there are many fun and delicious recipes to try! @beh353#beh353
One thing I learned from Emma D’Arpino was that it’s possible to get more nutrition from frozen produce than fresh produce because it’s picked at peak ripeness. Many people including myself associate fresh fruit with being healthier but this isn’t always the case! @beh353#beh353
I would choose this article when working with children. It provided a lot of visuals for them to understand what a good diet looks like in a way they can process easily. It is also endorsed by Harvard which is very reputable. @beh353#beh353

I think this article is great because it gives healthier alternatives to typical Easter recipes. The recipes are also simple enough that kids can follow along and be involved in making it. Kids still get to have fun celebrating a holiday while eating healthy! @beh353#beh353
This article was a great find Saribel! I think it’s really important for kids to learn about positive body image early on, so they aren’t negatively influenced by social media! @beh353#beh353
This provides helpful tips for parents on how to encourage children, regardless of their size or shape, to have a positive body image. It talks ab the value of focusing on healthy behaviors rather than weight or appearance. @beh353#beh353
I think this is super helpful, especially nowadays where kids are heavily influenced by the bodies they see on social media. Great find! @beh353#beh353
This provides helpful tips for parents on how to encourage children, regardless of their size or shape, to have a positive body image. It talks ab the value of focusing on healthy behaviors rather than weight or appearance. @beh353#beh353
I found this article very interesting especially as someone who is trying to increase their protein intake while going to the gym. They give several good examples of different protein sources! @beh353#beh353
A tip I learned that will help me care for future patients is to not assume that everyone who’s obese is unhealthy. According to the article 1/3-3/4 of obese people are metabolically healthy. But 1/4 of non-obese people are “lean unhealthy”. @beh353#beh353
Great observation Luz! I also found this very interesting. Fixing obesity in childhood could lead to much less obesity in adults overall. @beh353#beh353
Something that stuck with from this week's module and video was that obesity during childhood most likely leads to obesity in adulthood. It's also more common in lower income families because they don't get access to healthier (more expenssive) food. @beh353#beh353
I think this article is interesting because it talks about how easily influenced our society is now when it comes to food trends. There are a lot of misconceptions that are being created just for people to make a profit! @beh353#beh353
Confusing consumers does nothing to support agriculture. Food labels are some of the most controversial topics right now, and there are so many misconceptions surrounding what the terms actually mean. @AGDAILY

A fact I didn’t know was that food eaten at school represents 40-50% of children’s daily caloric intake and 94% of schools served lunch that don’t meet USDA standards. Thinking about it this way makes you realize how important school lunch is to kid’s diets. @beh353#beh353
I think this article is very helpful because many people, especially adolescents don’t get enough sleep. This article talks about the importance of sleep, and tips to help get more sleep. @beh353#beh353
I agree Luz! I was also affected by the unhealthy diets of my friends at school. They always ate more junk food, and I felt left out with my parents giving me healthier snacks. @beh353#beh353
I was mostly affected by the unhealthy diet of friends/family in the past because many people didn't understand what it meant to be a vegetarian. They asked me if all I ate was lettuce which got me thinking a lot. Now there's a lot more info about vegetarianism 😌@beh353#beh353
One barrier to healthy eating that I relate to is “lack of time to plan, shop, prepare and cook healthy foods”. I often find that healthier food options take more time to cook, and I’ll choose frozen meals that are easier to cook, but aren’t as healthy. @beh353#beh353
I thought this article brought up great points about the importance of healthy fats for the body, which is a common misconception today. @sofyanBDHT#beh353
I think this article was a great find!! All of this information is great for teens that are starting to make decisions about their nutrition and don’t know where to start. @beh353#beh353
This article is a great resource for teens because it provides facts and information about vitamins and minerals and how they are important for teen health. It also includes tips for healthy eating and advice for taking supplements. @beh353#beh353
