@StarRaygoza@beh353 I think this is a great way to incorporate nutrition into our future careers, Star! I think guiding patients and being an example is very important as well because it's a way to show support and let them know you are also human, too!😊 @beh353#beh353
I love smoothies; this one has a great variety of fruits and veggies! It's also a balanced way to get energy throughout the day. I will be saving this recipe for later 😁 @beh353#beh353
I will incorporate nutrition as a future healthcare professional by keeping in mind that there are nutritionists out there to help my patients and keeping a good relationship is key! Also, emphasizing that being healthy is all about balance/feeling good!😀@beh353#beh353
@tang_katelyn@EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 Hi Katelyn! I think this was a great point made as well. A lot of the concepts we have about certain foods affect the way we see them. The most important thing to keep in mind is that being healthy is about balance!
@beh353#beh353
@EmmaDArpinoRD Thank you for taking the time to go through some important nutrition topics! I thought it was really interesting to know that frozen produce can have more benefits than fresh produce, especially during the winter time. I will be keeping this in mind @beh353#beh353
Sadly, this topic isn't receiving as much attention as it should. Biodiversity is key to our planet and everything it provides us, from our food to fuel. Learning about sustainable ways to conserve our biodiversity is a great way to start making a change! 🌎🌱 @beh353@beh353
Biodiversity is one of our planet’s most precious resources.
But it is declining fast.
@FAO’s Framework for Action on Biodiversity for Food & Agriculture provides guidance on how to sustainably use & conserve #biodiversity 👉https://t.co/o8oNDkPhL1
@JJNutrition18@beh353 I think this is great as well, Jade! Having a variety of foods can introduce kids to different flavors and snacks that are easy and healthy to make. @beh353#beh353
Global warming is caused by many things and if there's a way for each of us to contribute to the change, it could become impactful. People can be more mindful of not wasting so much food and eating less beef to start. Small steps in the right direction count!🌎 @beh353#beh353
Great chart from @_HannahRitchie showing food's GHG contribution - nearly 1/3 of total.
Want to reduce it without going vegan? 2 things matter most:
➡️Eat less beef
➡️Waste less food

This article would be great for anyone interested in learning what a healthy diet contains. It is easy to read, gives tips, and talks about balance/diversity. It's also written by two registered dietitians which adds credibility. @beh353#beh353

@miahricz@beh353 Mia, I think this is important as well! I think having patients focus more on their healthy eating habits and lifestyle is a great. Having them focus more on the good progress they are making and less on the # of pounds they've lost is beneficial😁@beh353#beh353
Understanding and supporting those who are at a constant battle with obesity is extremely important because this affects their mental and emotional state greatly. No one should let a look in the mirror ruin their day so being careful with our words is v important! @beh353#beh353
Making sure there are a variety of fruits and veggies in our daily consumption is extremely important! Not only will you get more nutrition from them but also a bit of different flavors😋 @beh353#beh353
Fruit & Vegetable Group. Make 1/2 your Plate Fruits & Vegetables. The more color you have, the more likely you will get the vitamins, minerals & fiber your body needs to be healthy. All forms count as fresh, frozen, canned, dried, or 100% juice. #Fruits#Vegetables#nnm
Lentils are one of my favorite legumes and reading that they provide more protein than steak and more iron than meat makes me like them even more! Also, they are good for the soil in which they grow. Unlike many other crops, legumes actually help rebuild the soil. @beh353#beh353
@oliviafleuryxo@beh353 I agree with you, Olivia! This is something that I also wasn’t aware of and I think serving healthier food in school would be a great step to having healthier kids! @beh353#beh353
Something that stuck with from this week's module and video was that obesity during childhood most likely leads to obesity in adulthood. It's also more common in lower income families because they don't get access to healthier (more expenssive) food. @beh353#beh353
@BraeleeAC1 @beh353 I think is also something that should be promoted more. Showing people what a healthy meal is and how to cook it should be more common :) @beh353#beh353
I was mostly affected by the unhealthy diet of friends/family in the past because many people didn't understand what it meant to be a vegetarian. They asked me if all I ate was lettuce which got me thinking a lot. Now there's a lot more info about vegetarianism 😌@beh353#beh353
Having the option to drink non-dairy milk is great because for many it's either a better option or it's healthier. It's there as a great alternative for anyone looking to try something new!😁 @beh353#beh353
How do they get 'milk' from nuts? Or oats? Coconuts? or Peas?
The basics are, the products are blended extremely fine with water & then the solid pieces are strained out.
Some products may add vitamins and minerals, salt, food additives, or flavoring. -Admin
@Saribelv03@beh353 I think teaching young children about healthy eating habits is extremely important, too. The more aware they are the better they will want to eat and the healthier they will be. Being healthy is all about consistency 👍🥕🥦 @beh353#beh353
