Thirty years ago, Tope Shonubi, Ade Odunsi and Tonye Cole set out to build a pan-African energy company. Today, @iamsaharagroup stands as proof of what African ambition, conviction and resilience can achieve.
A true African champion. Built by us, for us, and competing globally.
Congratulations to the founders and the entire Sahara team on three decades of impact.

Crude oil has averaged ~$92 over the past week, over $10 lower than previous weeks. How long before that reflects in Dangote’s PMS price?
US pump prices are already reflecting the drop. Why are prices in Nigeria always quick to go up, but slow to come down?
As fundamental as preserving culture and language can be, I do not think the conversation about who becomes the next Governor of Lagos should be reduced to who can speak Yoruba or not. It is when you don’t have an important issue about governance at stake that you can digress to other secondary matters.
Personally, even though I don’t have any serious stake about who becomes the next Governor of Lagos, I do not think GRV posses any serious threat to the emergence of Dr Femi Hamzat from becoming the next Governor of Lagos. To me, he (Dr Hamzat) doesn’t appear as someone who is giving to focusing on frivolous issues aside governance. Aside his impressive personal profile and sterling academic excellence and exposure, he brings to fore quality experience and remarkable public profile. The facts are there!
His supporters have more than enough of these to focus on issues based campaigns for the next Governor of Lagos and not the distractions about who can speak Yoruba or not. Make no mistake, politics is indeed tribal and local, but definitely not at the expense of governance. To every discerning Lagosian, both the indigenes and those of us who came here for business and professional prosperity, having someone at the helms of affairs of Lagos, who further explore the good fortune of Lagos to have meaningful impacts in their lives and businesses is more paramount.
Again, Lagos is too important to be handed over to mob-elevating rookies or someone who prides themselves on populism. Populists and rookies don’t make good leaders and there are too many examples around the world. It is not even at this critical time that it needs serious alignment with economic prosperity that the federal government reforms will bring to Nigeria as a whole.
No doubt, in Lagos, many issues need continuous fixing, more importantly, waste management, transportation, security (touting, street begging and urchins), housing and public health. Some of us have called attention to these issues and we have seen efforts of the current administration to addressing them. These are what the focus of conversations should be about and who among the candidates possesses the require skills, exposure, and experience to addressing them.
One of Nigeria's biggest manufacturing gaps is that we don't produce enough of the equipment and tooling that our manufacturers need to build their products locally.
After extensive research, i found that there is limited evidence of established Nigerian OEMs that produce or-
The 🇳🇬 consumer market depends heavily on discretionary income. If wages remain stagnant how do they build wealth via the stock market, except you want them to practice financial witchcraft
If I, as a niqabi, got on Xwitter every market day to talk down the clothing y’all wear, I’d be called - maybe rightly so - all kinds of names
But any small thing, y’all out here tweeting at Muslim women in some condescending manner, like we can’t see beyond your faux feminism
Pick any State Capital in Nigeria and you’ll find plenty of places looking like this: the untamed red dust, the gullies, the islands of wild grass, the trash.
Fixing this should be the work of local governments, if they existed. We urgently need a constitutional amendment to create a 3rd tier of govt in Nigeria.
That BRT you enter, that street light that makes your street safe at night, that manhole cover that keeps your child safe na our property be that.
Every damaged streetlight, broken traffic sign, or vandalized bus stop costs Lagosians twice: first through public funds used for repairs, and second through the risks created for everyone.
We paid for them. Government maintains them. And when one person vandalizes them, we all pay the price.
Protect Lagos today, so our children can inherit a better Lagos tomorrow.
Public infrastructure is not “government property” alone it’s our shared property.
If you see something say something.
Protect it. Report vandalism. Help keep Lagos safe for all.

PROTECTING FOOTBALL, RESTORING NATIONAL PRIDE
Football occupies a special place in our national life. It brings Nigerians together across generations and communities, and our country has never lacked talent, passion or support for the game.
Yet, our results have too often fallen short of what Nigeria should expect.
I have therefore directed a comprehensive reform of Nigerian football following our repeated failures to qualify for major regional, continental and world tournaments.
The problems are structural, and our response must address them.
The funny thing here is that Lagos state is the smallest state in Nigeria by landmass and the irony is that Lagos state is the only state in Nigeria with an agricultural master plan not just on paper but the only state with an agricultural master plan which the state is also implementing.
From building a rice milling plant to building an agriculture logistic hub to building an agricultural store (farmers) market.
P.S: no state in Nigeria has this kind of agricultural policy to date.
If you are not filling the impact of fuel subsidy removal, then it means your state government and your local government are useless. The collapse of microeconomic standard in your states and local government has nothing do with fuel subsidy removal. It has 99% to do with your states and local governments executive arm and legislative body inability to transform your state into an economic power house.
OMO, I’M SCARED OF WHO WILL TAKE OVER FROM TINUBU 😭
Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves have now risen above $53 billion, reaching $53.11 billion, the highest level since January 2009.
Honestly, this is why I keep saying I’m scared of who will take over from Tinubu. God abeg 😭 These politicians are like vultures. You will work hard to build something, and another person can come tomorrow and waste everything and take us back to square one.
I just hope Nigerians will think very well when the time comes. Building is hard, destroying is very easy.
If it is meant for you, it will definitely be yours.
Dont push yourself into desperation trying to force what isn’t ready for you.
Patience, faith and hard work matter, but they must work with your reality, not just your dreams and ambitions.
Sometimes, wisdom is knowing when to push when to pause and when to trust God's timing.
