I'm very interested in seeing how this experiment goes, but I don't think it will be long-term viable.
My reason is simple: companies can sell shares and give dividends because they're a long running entity, with value accruing over time.
That's different from how music works.
Let's say I released a track called "Ojoro" and it somehow becomes a massive hit on streaming site.
Production cost for the track: $50,000.
Royalty paid per stream: $0.25
Number of first week streams: 3,000,000.
total revenue: $750,000.
That's a $700,000 gain on the music.
Let me use real figures, so we can be closer to realities on ground.
Album prod cost: $2,000 (https://t.co/2Lj6L14KxN).
Spotify royalty paid per stream: $0.00437.
Mr Eazi's total streams: 5 million (https://t.co/eAw2qCj8i4).
total revenue: $21,850.
