Omna Tigray was founded by a collective of Tegaru from all over the world who believe in educated advocacy and access to resources.
Our vision is to fight injustice, advocate for peace and economic development, and amplify the voices of the people in #Tigray.
#OmnaTigray
Tigray faces a crisis on two fronts. The first, a federal siege, with budget withheld, fuel and aid cut off, and the region encircled. At the same time, Tigray has a leadership reviving an expired mandate instead of broadening representation.
Our new statement on what’s happening in #Tigray and what must change: https://t.co/7ANXkchF34
JOINT OPEN LETTER: Together with @omnatigray, the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect @GCR2P , @GemTigray, and others, we raise grave concern over Tigray’s Proclamation No. 366/2018 - reportedly passed in the region without public disclosure or consultation.
We urge full transparency.

In response to the continuing risk of genocide and mass atrocities in #Ethiopia, Genocide Watch calls for:
• States and relevant parties to charge Ethiopia with violations of the U.N. Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice for genocide in Tigray
• The @UN_HRC to establish a Fact‑Finding Mission to investigate massacres and other atrocities committed by Ethiopian and Eritrean forces and regional militias
• The @UN and African institutions to support mediation between the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments to reduce escalating tensions and prevent further conflict
Prevention, accountability, and international engagement are essential to protecting civilians and preventing further atrocities in #Tigray & #Ethiopia.
There is an ongoing threat of genocide and other mass atrocities in #Ethiopia.
In April 2026, @genocidewatch published an Ethiopia Country Report. They have determined that Ethiopia is currently at:
‼️Stage 3: Discrimination
‼️Stage 5: Organization
‼️Stage 10: Denial
This determination is based on violence against civilians in ongoing regional conflicts, escalating tensions, and the continued denial of atrocities committed in #Tigray.

Why does #Ethiopia remain at high risk of genocide?
Over five years after #TigrayGenocide, there has been no accountability for mass atrocities. Independent investigations confirm that Ethiopian and Eritrean forces committed genocide against Tigrayans, yet perpetrators remain unpunished.
Today, #Tigray|ans continue to face discrimination, including arbitrary detention and restrictions on movement, while nearly 800,000 people remain internally displaced, relying on informal support networks amid food shortages, limited medical access, and aid cuts.
At the same time, violence against civilians in regional conflicts in Amhara and Oromia continues. In the absence of accountability, denial and impunity heighten the risk of renewed mass atrocity crimes.
In this context, denial and impunity increase the danger of renewed violence and mass atrocity crimes.

Official Trailer for the Documentary that's been in the making since 2023.
Set in #Tigray, the film follows a nurse caring for survivors of gender-based violence, a former youth fighter learning to live in a body reshaped by war, a humanitarian worker returning after medical evacuation, and others who continued to care for their community, no matter the cost.
We are raising funds to safely complete the film and bring this story of memory, hope and endurance to audiences around the world. If you are able to support, please donate:

Over 740,000 displaced Tigrayans remain stranded in camps across central #Tigray, unable to return home because the very authorities that ethnically cleansed them from their land remain in power. The report makes clear that the war against Tigrayans has not ended.
🚨A new @hrw investigation finds that #Tigrayans in #WesternTigray continue to face ongoing persecution by federally backed authorities. They are subjected to arbitrary detention, restrictions on their movements & employment, and denial of access to essential services.

Over 3 years after the Pretoria Agreement, Tigrayans face threats from every direction: a federal government preparing for war, a regional leadership not prioritizing the needs of its people, and an international community looking the other way. Read and share our first situation report of 2026:

URGENT: Shewit Wudassie, Salsay Woyane member & producer of Romanat Online podcast, was detained by security forces in Mekelle today for his political commentary.
This is part of a dangerous pattern of silencing media voices in Tigray. We demand full transparency about his arrest and his immediate release.
Freedom of speech is not negotiable.
#FreeShewit #PressFreedom
Sad to hear about the detention of Shewit Wudassie, an academic, public commentator, and Salsay Woyane representative. I encourage the regional authorities in Tigray to immediately release Shewit, or make public the charges against him and provide a due process of law.
If the rhetoric doesn't change, the reality will only get worse.
The same HRW report documents over 9 million children out of school due to conflict, ongoing forced displacement, a crackdown on independent media and civil society, and deep cuts to humanitarian aid.
The consequences of unchecked polarization are not abstract. They are being lived by millions of Ethiopians every day.

Polarizing, dehumanizing language against every ethnic group in Ethiopia is escalating at an alarming rate.
@hrw’s 2026 World Report flags the ongoing use of hate speech to fuel ethnic and gender-based violence across the country. This is not new but it's getting worse.

News: Fears of fresh war drive #Tigrayans to flee north #Ethiopia
Its deep in the night in #Mekelle, the capital of Ethiopia’s #Tigray region, but dozens of young men with backpacks and suitcases are searching for a bus to #Addis_Abeba.
Abel, 23, fought for the Tigrayan Defence Forces during the civil war against the federal government of 2020-22 that killed at least 600,000 people. He worries a fresh conflict is imminent.
"It’s not safe here anymore," said Abel, whose name has been changed to protect his identity. "I saw people die. I don’t want to relive that, I don’t want the war to catch up with me again."
While war sets much of the #Middle_East alight, just across the waters of the #Red_Sea, another conflict is looming in the Horn of Africa.
Federal and Tigrayan forces are once again massing at their shared border in northern Ethiopia.
There are no exact numbers, but hundreds are fleeing Tigray -- a region that was home to around six million people before the war -- every day by bus or plane.
Abel wants to join them but the buses are full for the 700-kilometre (435-mile) drive to the federal capital of Addis Ababa, one of the few areas of Ethiopia not facing some form of conflict or insecurity.

Omna Tigray added its signature to a joint statement warning of rising tensions in the Horn of Africa that risk devolving into war between Ethiopia and Eritrea and a return to full-scale conflict in Tigray. We signed to amplify a message of peace, rooted in our unwavering humanitarian values and our commitment to ending the suffering of the Tigrayan people. Our decision was guided solely by the letter's substance and intent. Our goal is to advocate for the people of Tigray, and our intent at the moment, in addition to accountability, is to push international actors to intervene and stop this war before it starts. We know that the more groups that raise their voices together, the harder it is for the world to look away.
As part of our due diligence, we want to be transparent: we do not endorse or align with all of the positions and statements held by every signatory. Our community has reminded us of the harmful past work of one of the co-signing organizations @AmericaEthiopia. We've had internal conversations about it, and to be clear, we have no working relationship with them. We recognize that who we align ourselves with carries weight, even in name. We have decided to delete the post out of respect for the concerns raised — but make no mistake, we still stand strongly and united in our call: no war.
Accountability is at the core of everything we do, and that starts with holding ourselves to the same standard we hold others. Going forward, we will be more careful about who we co-sign alongside and ensure our name reflects our values.
PRESS STATEMENT: STOP THE WAR DRUMS.
Troops are encircling #Tigray. Drone strikes have killed civilians. The people who survived genocide are being pushed by #Ethiopia and #Eritrea, once allies now adversaries, to the brink of another war.
600,000–800,000 killed. Zero accountability. A peace agreement never implemented.
We demand peace. We demand dialogue. We will not be silent.

We demand (2/3):
TIRA: Communicate transparently. Activate emergency response. Protect and inform your civilians.
TPLF: Commit to a ceasefire publicly. Re-enter the Pretoria process. Exhaust every diplomatic channel visibly and on the record.

This anniversary is not only remembrance — it’s a call to action.
We call for:
1. Tigrayan leadership to center the people
2. An end to ongoing human rights violations
3. Increased humanitarian aid + access
4. Independent/international accountability mechanisms
5. Peace above all

Five years ago today — Nov 4, 2020 — the genocide against Tigray began.
Tigray’s fight for survival is far from over.
As we commemorate this difficult milestone, a thread on Tigray’s current situation. #TigrayGenocide#RememberTigray#Tigray5Years 👇🏾
Today, there is a threat of war between Ethiopia and Eritrea, jeopardizing any progress that has been made since the Pretoria Agreement. Any renewed conflict would be beyond devastating for #Tigray and its people. Peace must be prioritized. #Tigray5Years
