Although Maduro lost the 2024 election, he clung to power through military force and subsequently ran a one party parliamentary election in 2025 after the opposition boycotted the electoral process in protest. This illegitimate usurper led no genuine government, and his ouster by Trump — for what are clearly wrong, imperialistic and insupportable reasons— does not undermine the will of the Venezuelan people. What undermined the popular will was his continued stay in stolen power. Illegitimate rulers who abuse state power and undermine the will of the electorate must be removed by all means necessary. Countries like South Africa that ignore electoral theft in neighboring states should just shut up and save us from unnecessary posturing. There is no self determination where the will of the people is subjected to armed caprice. The question of the day is this and simply this, what must be frowned upon first, the violent removal of a dictator or their violent assumption of power?
