Former President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier today virtually attended a High-Level Harmonization Meeting of the AU Panel of Facilitators for the Eastern DRC Peace Process and the Independent Joint Secretariat (IJS) Implementation of the Eastern DRC Peace Process.
The meeting brought together the AU Panel of Facilitators, comprising former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria), Sahle-Work Zewde (Ethiopia), Catherine Samba-Panza (Central African Republic), and Mokgweetsi Masisi (Botswana). Also in attendance were representatives from the African Union (AU), Southern African Development Community (SADC), East African Community (EAC), International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), representatives of the State of Qatar, and the United States, underscoring the shared commitment of regional and international partners to advancing a sustainable and inclusive peace process in eastern DRC.
The meeting, held in Gaborone, Botswana, reaffirmed the collective resolve of the @_AfricanUnion, regional economic communities, and international partners to strengthen coordination, accelerate implementation of agreed peace initiatives, and support the AU Mediator in advancing a credible and sustainable pathway toward peace, stability, and security in eastern DRC.
