@kr62209@BradfieldSWFC@added_on_time Yes, I blocked him as well some time back. Many thanks for everything you have done in the last few months. Fantastic achievement and very much appreciated by the vast majority of Wednesdayites
If you want more stuff then economic growth is the only way to get it. That means eg building those houses that the Greens and Tories in Enfield want to stop, removing barriers to investment and trade, increasing general taxation to help pay for new commitments, stop inventing ways of preventing talented foreigners from settling here - if your plan is working and is stable then maybe you can borrow more. Ironically Starmer's govt has embarked on some of these but who bothers reporting it?
If absolutely nothing else comes of this, it shatters — perhaps once and for all — the Bolsonaro narrative that only Brazil’s far-right can deal productively with this White House. This is devastating for a political camp in Brazil that doesn’t have much to run on in policy terms
What a pleasure to host Richard Lapper (@onLatinAmerica) in DC on April 28 to hear about his new book "Lula!" during Brazil's critical election year.
The journalist talked with moderator @CarinZissis and guests about Lula's legacy, the country's transformation, and the dynamics behind what's shaping up to be a close 2026 presidential race.
Couldn't join us in DC? The journalist will join us on May 5 for a talk in NYC with @BrazilBrian.

Renowned journalist @onLatinAmerica has just published a major book on Brazil's Lula, who's vying for a 4th presidential term.
Join us 4/28 in DC or 5/5 in NYC for insight on how a single figure came to embody so much of Brazil's modern history. https://t.co/4frJvUa91O
2026 will be a consequential year for Brazil. And there are few people with more insight than Richard Lapper, who has a definitive new book out on Lula.
Join Americas Society on Apr 28 in Washington with @onLatinAmerica for analysis of what lies ahead:

@AlanBiggs1 Thank God for your voice of reason. This is a very thin squad. Amazing to hold our own against players on four of five times the money of our lads. Incredibly brave performance today
Delighted to say @ChathamHouse has elevated Latin America to a “programme”thanks to our work on Peru, Venezuela, Haiti & region generally. For those in London there will be a reception May 19. This has been my goal since 2019. Truly honoured. https://t.co/9zRU5yK1Iw

Many thanks to the LSE, to @VRubioMarquez@AndresVelasco and Carolina Stern for organising this event on my new book Lula! The Man, The Myth and a Dream of Latin America
It was a true pleasure to present Richard Lapper’s latest book at @LSEnews@LSEPublicPolicy: “Lula! The Man, The Myth and a Dream of Latin America”. A fascinating recount of the biography, context, challenges and the different aspects that have shaped one of the most relevant figures of Brazil and Latin America. We discussed Lula’s personal history, his vision of the state, his take on complex governance in an intricate country and the future of Latin America’s largest economy. 🙌🤓📚
