@AbsoluteTr4sh It’s mainly how he says we don’t have all the pieces yet, and also implies certain clues have been getting widely misinterpreted.
The attitude stuff too though. Even in the replies here you can find responses calling Rudy Knight people illiterate morons.
@Noze2222 I also think it’s on the table for them to believe they can UNDO Dess’ incident. Like, prevent it from having happened.
Undertale had the concept of in-game characters figuring out how to reset, and there is still the lingering mystery of Kris’ save file we override.
@Noze2222 My thoughts are that they’re probably being tricked into thinking this will save Dess.
We know at least one (probably Gaster-related) third party is involved, and also Kris definitely isn’t “bad”, so the Knight’s motives have to sympathetic enough for them to agree.
@omegasmash1 Whatever he meant it to apply to, the point still stands that Toby felt the need to make a dedicated “not everything’s Dess you know” message.
“When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail” is a warning about trying to force everything through the same lens.
@_AutumnQueen@Valef0rs@gaming_cores “Blackened” knife, as in TURNED black.
I think it’s very possible that Dess’ bat was transformed on “that day”, then got left behind for whoever’s in the armor to claim later.
@_AutumnQueen@Valef0rs@gaming_cores Even in 3+4 there were some details pointing towards the black knife existing independently from the Knight, and then of course chapter 5 basically confirmed it existing before the Knight should’ve been around (and it was Ralsei saying that, so it means something).
@gaming_cores The impression I get is that he probably wanted to make it clear they’re a Holiday, but have us split on which one.
Instead people looked at some connections to Dess and a few implications and immediately ignored any other possibility.
@DarsonThe@DrAwesomeV2 Deltarune in a single game. Toby conceived and wrote it as a single game. Once 7 releases in 2028 or whenever, Deltarune as an episodic game will cease to exist.
So no, I don’t think the “intended audience” is people who have been picking apart every detail for literal years.
@RedactedAtlas There’s several moments where we see the Knight flopping around and drooling and shit. I think that armor might just fuck with you a little.
Might not be a coincidence that they also have Friend’s laugh sound.
@oneayaitch Think they more mean how we don’t *actually* know what she was like yet. We’ve had hints, but we objectively don’t have the full picture.
Meanwhile you see people with their full chest using their headcanons for her personality to justify theorizing and stuff like it’s canon.

@Zennistrad@NotQuiteHereTSM Even ignoring the stuff suggesting the black knife exists independently from the Knight, that’s still seeing one detail and then just not properly engaging with any others.
Same way that the end of chapter 2 “obviously confirmed” Kris is the Knight.
