As the legislature leaves teachers and law enforcement officers waiting for hard-earned and desperately needed pay raises, members of the General Assembly are stoking the culture wars that divide us rather than fulfilling their long-overdue responsibility of passing a budget. It’s time for them to do their jobs for the people of North Carolina. Instead, they are overriding my veto on bills to whitewash the diversity that makes our state strong and to take state law enforcement officers away from their existing state duties, forcing them to act as federal immigration agents.
Too many families are struggling to make ends meet, so we must work to make life more affordable, not less. While Duke Energy Carolinas just reduced its proposed rate increase, it’s still too high. This development proves that when North Carolinians make their voices heard, it makes a difference. Let’s keep advocating for the Utilities Commission to do right by consumers. We need to lower costs for families – because every dollar counts.
Raleigh: City of Champions.
Governor Josh Stein is designating the stretch of Edwards Mill Road between Wade Avenue and Chapel Hill Road in Wake County as "Hurricanes Highway" in recognition of the team's 2026 Stanley Cup victory.

@NC_Governor was in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium when he made it clear that the state is ready to work to bring MLB to Raleigh.
"Clearly, the Triangle is a lucrative and potential market for MLB, and we're gonna be working to do all we can.
And I think that the region really showed out. The viewership on this NHL playoffs were the highest in seven or eight years. People care about what happens here.
One of the fastest growing metro areas in the country, 22nd largest media market, which places them in a bigger than any other potential expansion site in the country.
So we're eager for this opportunity to be considered, and we'll do all we can to support it."

It’s outrageous that State Auditor Dave Boliek and the Auditor’s Office pressured local members of the Jackson County Board of Elections to reject an early voting location at Western Carolina University. All lawful voters, including young people, deserve to have their voices heard. I thank the majority of Republican and Democratic county board members for voting for student access to the polls. There is no legitimate reason for the State Board of Election to overrule the local board’s recommendation for the WCU location. Contact the NC State Board of Elections and tell them to do right by NC voters.
