oh, hi there, this is just a nonchalant tweet to pin so people who look at my profile see the #histarchives as well as the #MovingHistory stuff.

@NicholasGuyatt Indeed! When Peter Foster had UKHE as his pet topic he did make sure to include staff voices that put some nuance to the OfS/UUK/UCEA/DoE statements, but he seems to have gone off the topic and his successors haven't continued his good practice 😭
But yay graphs!
@NicholasGuyatt (and realising that I hadn't read it when it came out because it was pitched as the OfS speaking, and I have a limited amount of patience for any of their utterances...)
@NicholasGuyatt excellent, thank you! Somehow, this is the one paper QMUL provides subscriptions for so I could have gotten it through a couple of password hoops, but this was a straightforward click.
@DavidVeevers1 Yeah, though may be trying to curry favour for now and go sinister once they’ve got the trust. They had me, must respect some of the skill…
Posted this on the other site and now my mentions are full of beautiful memories of people growing up with these, keeping cut-outs, passing on that love to their own children.
What a gift caring and cared-for art can be.
Look at our itsy bitsy baby list 🥹
8 in January 2024, 88 in December 2024.
You'd think that would warrant some intervention in the way the sector is financed and governed...
This was the list mid-January.
Six weeks on: adding @UCUNUbranch, @UoK_UCU moved to the top bracket, @UCU_YSJ joined the club, as did @uculincoln. Who else?
snarky letters, break-ins in union offices, silence about persecution of colleagues, bailiffs at dawn, court cases, kicking out toddlers, more court cases, ...
All the more thankful for the lovely @QMSU and @QM_UNISON friends reminding us we can do this together.
Only two weeks of 2024 to go.
We'd like to leave behind in 2024: the exhausting intimidation, surveillance, breaking-in, non-consultations.
We'd like to take with us int 2025 and well beyond: the excellent solidarity of members, students, community, and grassroots organisations
Academia losing a rather excellent participant; the world at large gaining one.
(Very recognisable path, about the lack of mojo once you realise how little respect your overlords have for you, and the pointlessness of so much of it once you start questioning it...)
This was our 2023: https://t.co/tgvImbTEuU
And this our 2022: https://t.co/jIS97GBaeb
May our overview for 2025 be (1) shorter, (2) with fewer 'don't go full QMUL' moments, and (3) with just slightly fewer 'OMG, I'd forgotten about that madness, that was THIS year??' entries...
