At OPG's Wesleyville site in Port Hope, we're boring deep into the ground to assess the site for its potential nuclear future.

As part of the first phase of the project's Impact Assessment, OPG is working with E.S. Fox, Indigenous-owned Voyageur Services, and other local companies to conduct a geotechnical and hydrogeological borehole campaign. The geotechnical campaign aims to bore at 40 locations across the site, reaching depths of between 60 to 120 metres, and is expected to wrap up later this summer.

Other ongoing work includes surveys of the area’s vegetation, birds, and wildlife, aquatic and surface-water assessments, as well as archaeological, socio-economic, and traffic studies.

This important work is helping advance a potential project that could provide up to 10,000 MW of new nuclear generation for Ontario's clean energy future.

The @ONcleanair claims of a “nuclear handout” miss the facts. Bruce C pre-development is a cost-sharing and recovery investment that represents a responsible, deliberate approach to planning Ontario’s energy future.  Ontario’s electricity demand is rising rapidly, and meeting it requires large-scale, reliable, non‑emitting power. Nuclear delivers 24/7 electricity for 60–80 years, supports 90,000 Canadian jobs and growing, keeps 95% of spending in Canada, and helps shield families and businesses from price volatility.

Bruce Power is the largest private investor in Ontario’s electricity infrastructure, delivering refurbishments on-time and on-budget, backed by a strong made-in-Ontario nuclear supply chain.  

Electricity is the backbone of a competitive economy — and failing to plan now would cost far more later.
