On World Environment Day, we recognize the role nuclear energy plays in helping Ontario meet growing electricity demand while supporting environmental sustainability, energy security and economic growth.
#WorldEnvironmentDay#NuclearEnergy#Ontario
Ontario’s nuclear industry continues to lead, driving economic growth, supporting jobs and helping meet growing electricity demand across the province.
At #CNA2026, @Sflecce, Minister of Energy and Mines, joined ONA members to speak about the future of nuclear energy in Ontario and the critical role the sector plays in powering growth, investment and reliability across the province.
Thank you to all of our members and partners who joined us for the conversation.

Proud to join @Sflecce & @Bruce_Power in advancing the Bruce C Nuclear Project! This means thousands of union jobs, economic growth & reliable, made-in-Ont energy by skilled tradespeople. The future of nuclear is built by OBT's members. 👷 💖 Re: https://t.co/436nD3TJ5b
At OPG's Wesleyville site in Port Hope, we're boring deep into the ground to assess the site for its potential nuclear future.
As part of the first phase of the project's Impact Assessment, OPG is working with E.S. Fox, Indigenous-owned Voyageur Services, and other local companies to conduct a geotechnical and hydrogeological borehole campaign. The geotechnical campaign aims to bore at 40 locations across the site, reaching depths of between 60 to 120 metres, and is expected to wrap up later this summer.
Other ongoing work includes surveys of the area’s vegetation, birds, and wildlife, aquatic and surface-water assessments, as well as archaeological, socio-economic, and traffic studies.
This important work is helping advance a potential project that could provide up to 10,000 MW of new nuclear generation for Ontario's clean energy future.

Ontario is building for generations. The proposed Bruce C project would mark Canada’s first large-scale nuclear build in over 30 years, supporting 18,900 jobs during construction, powering up to 4.8 million homes, and strengthening Ontario’s made-in-Canada energy advantage.
We’re proud to stand alongside @Bruce_Power, industry partners, workers, suppliers and communities helping move this generational project forward.
Watch what some of our members had to say about the opportunity ahead.

The @ONcleanair claims of a “nuclear handout” miss the facts. Bruce C pre-development is a cost-sharing and recovery investment that represents a responsible, deliberate approach to planning Ontario’s energy future. Ontario’s electricity demand is rising rapidly, and meeting it requires large-scale, reliable, non‑emitting power. Nuclear delivers 24/7 electricity for 60–80 years, supports 90,000 Canadian jobs and growing, keeps 95% of spending in Canada, and helps shield families and businesses from price volatility.
Bruce Power is the largest private investor in Ontario’s electricity infrastructure, delivering refurbishments on-time and on-budget, backed by a strong made-in-Ontario nuclear supply chain.
Electricity is the backbone of a competitive economy — and failing to plan now would cost far more later.
Ontario is moving forward with the Bruce C nuclear project — creating 18,900 jobs.
Now is the time to do big things, transforming @Bruce_Power into the world's largest nuclear generating facility.
Ontario is at a pivotal moment. Electricity demand is rising as our economy grows, while global uncertainty underscores the need for a secure, reliable supply of Ontario‑made power.
Today’s support for pre‑development work on the Bruce C project is an important milestone and reflects a responsible, forward‑looking approach to energy planning. We appreciate the support of the Government of Ontario, and ongoing engagement with Indigenous and local communities who continue shape the path forward for the project.
Ontario is undertaking one of the largest nuclear expansions in the world, creating 150,000 good-paying jobs and powering our economic growth.
The Bruce C nuclear project is central to that plan. This build will support nearly 19,000 jobs during construction and provide enough power for nearly 5 million homes.
From plans to power, Ontario is leading the way! Great to be with our friends at @Bruce_Power and Energy Minister @Sflecce as Ontario announces next steps to advance pre-development work at Bruce C.
A nation-building project that will create 18,900 jobs, power 4.8 million homes, add $238B to Canada’s GDP, and be over 95% Made-In-Canada.
This is how Ontario secures energy, drives economic growth, and builds the future. And the world is watching!
Ontario's 18,900 jobs plan starts with Bruce C, transforming @Bruce_Power into the largest nuclear generating facility in the world.
The Bruce C nuclear project will:

Today, the Hon. @Sflecce, Minister of Energy and Mines, and the @ONgov announced support for the next phase of pre-development work for the proposed Bruce C Project, an important step in responsibly exploring future clean energy options for the province.
This work will focus on early planning, Indigenous and community engagement and readiness activities to assess how up to 4,800 MW of new nuclear generation at the Bruce site could help meet Ontario’s growing electricity needs while supporting local communities.
